Any of you smoke? What do you smoke? How often? Why? I smoke about 7-10 american spirits a day. Not even trying to be a little hipster I just havent found another cigarette that burns as well (and as slow), tastes as nice, and has the same nicotine rush. I have no regrets because its had a great effect on my mood. I have like random severe periods of depression and smoking has proven to me to be a great way to even out my mood enough to where I can handle it and still talk and get work done. Also met a lot of cool people through it.
Neo · 2017-04-28 23:24
>>134 Whenever I am not sitting cooped up in my room, I like to take walks or sit on a park bench and smoke. I have no particular taste, basically anything red and usually, cheap as well. That's one of the reasons I often end up smoking smuggled cigarettes. However, recently I bought a pipe and some tobacco for it. It's certainly much stronger and the experience is very good, but I feel weird smoking it in public because it seems more like a private thing. Also, since the pipe is pretty big, unless you have some free time to spare, a quick smoke is more convenient than lighting a pipe.

Turquoise American Spirits. Or organic American Spirit rollies. The amount I smoke fluctuates greatly, and depends on a lot of other variables; if I'm drinking/drunk, particularly conversational, high (on anything other than cannabis), or experiencing some sort of malaise, I can smoke almost a pack of day. On average, lately, it's alternated between 2 - 3 a day and a half a pack a day; the intensity is related to a noticeable increase in alcohol consumption lately. I've been taking Chantix to help quit smoking. It works really well, in general, but the addiction is strong. I've smoked on/off for over ten years; quitting is not the hard part. But my enjoyment of cigarettes is tempered by the cognitive dissonance of knowing firsthand the ruinous effect it has on people - at the moment I'm more or less watching my mom slowly die from disease caused by decades of smoking - and yet... I'm at the point in taking the medication where I can conceivably quit in the next few days. I don't think quitting itself will be an issue. Desire's the real foe. And as a former addict now 'clean', I know that the desire never goes away. As an aside on tobacco, one of the major challenges I've faced in times that I have quit is my fondness for spliffs. Spliffs (ie, tobacco and cannabis) are far superior to straight cannabis if you can dig the tobacco smoke (it also gets you higher - I used to have a source on this that I can no longer find, but one study showed spliff smoke contained 4x the amount of cannabinoids than a joint.) I've tried to quit smoking and just do spliffs, but that's just setting myself up for failure. Guess we'll see how it goes this time.

I smoke a pipe. My prefered tobacco right now is Dunhill nightcap. It burns really slowly, which gives me lots of time to reflect. It's almost a form of meditation. I try to reserve it for very difficult problems. I'm also considering vaping for the nootropic effect of nicotine. I love my pipe but it takes a very long time to enjoy.

>>134 I wouldn't worry about what the internet will call you a hipster for. American Spirit is the best commercial tobacco I've ever had and I can't get it here. Sad face. >>156 There's no way to get nicotine that isn't more expensive. Also the act of inhaling is so satisfying. My friend worked at a pharmacy and brought me some gum they were going to throw away and I had no money to buy smokes that week. It served only to make me not want to chew my own face off with cravings but not to kill the cravings. It made the need manageable but it didn't go away. Also if you chew it wrong you get sick and it's not like regular chewing gum. It gets stringy and gross stuffed under your lip like the instructions tell you to do.
Hong, Guil Dong · 2017-05-01 04:30
I smoke Peter Stokkebye pretty much exclusively. It's so much better than any other brand of rollies I've tried, and I prefer it even to prerolled ones. It's way cheaper, too. I like it for the nootropic effect but I don't want to smoke every time I need that mental clarity so I might get into vaping instead.

I liked marb reds, but I don't smoke anymore. Wish i did, liked the taste and nicc is A+, but I'm a fatass and don't really wanna harm myself more than I already do. Plus "vape culture" is pretty insider tradey.

I quit for around 3 months now (a little more I believe) Used to smoke camels, then moved to pall malls. Good/well priced cigarrettes are hard to get here. But I took to trying different non-addictive herbs to satisfy that need for the motion and habit part of quitting. I roll my own and I have to say the blend of Coltsfoot, scullcap, and blue lotus I made up last night was a really light and pleasant smoke. Not to mention you can get a ton of it cheap as soykaf. If you roll your own I paid 20 bucks for tubes, a tuber packer thing, and a grinder. Then I spent 30 bucks on various herbs to try out. And it really bothered me. So I think about that a lot when I get a craving. Another thing that really helps is eating. You get the urge to smoke when your blood sugar is low. So if you start jonesing really bad eating can help a lot. That's why a lot of people put on weight when they quit, but if you eat healthy snacks you shouldn't have a problem.

I think probably the best way to quit is just convincing yourself of how fuarrrking terrible they are for you. Ive quit in the past for like months and then gone back. I just dont want to or need to quit right now and dont really care. Cigarettes are weird I think they are hard to quit for me at least because its such a non chalant thing. You can do it in public, it doesnt have a huge effect that like disables you it just makes you feel calmer for a bit, and you dont feel like soykaf after like some other drug would make you. So unless you have a need to quit you just dont. Yet once you do have a need to its easy as fuarrrk imo. Cigarettes rarely take over a persons life. They do fuarrrk up peoples health but once someone finds out they have some weird health problem because of cigarettes they just quit cold turkey most of the time. They dont prioritize the cigarettes over an immediate health concern like they might with other drugs. If one of my friends was like if you dont quit im not hanging out with you id just quit. Or if my family back home found out id probably quit. It wouldnt take much. I quit for weeks whenever im up at my aunts. If I dont have money I quit. But unless something gets in the way I wont and thats the addiction level id say. I wouldnt stop on my own probably.

>>545 There's some evidence and a lot of folklore suggesting that nicotine has anti-psychotic effects even more than anti-depressant effects. An unusual percentage of people with schizophrenia diagnoses smoke, and mental hospitals were some of the last places with smoking areas in this country before it was just derezzed pretty much everywhere (it was less trouble to let patients smoke than try to stop them, and a lot of them couldn't just take it outside for obvious reasons). The trouble is, scientific research costs money and no one wants to fund research like this after our society worked so hard to convince everyone that smoking was bad. Under current rules it wouldn't be allowed to smoke in most laboratories I guess either. Not to mention, people would scream about giving mental patients cigarrettes in the name of science, even if provided useful results, even if we smoke them anyway (mine are already paid for with public funding. Not really. I'm just like the other people who got addicted after doing it in friend groups. Except I'm not yet addicted. I don't smoke regularly anymore, as my primary method of transportation has changed from driving to longboarding for the moment and I need my fullest lung capacity to get places more efficiently. But, when I did smoke, I mainly smoked Djarum Blacks -- either the regular kind, or menthol -- and Marlboro Skylines. The Djarums contain clove, which contains eugenol, which is an analgesic that has a numbing effect on the throat and can help open the airways. This makes them feel extra smooth, especially to me since I cannot smoke cigarettes that are too harsh, as they mess with my asthma. In fact, clove cigarettes used to be sold as asthma cigarettes. As in, cigarettes for asthma treatment. Maybe half of all menthol cigarettes I've tried have been super harsh, with the other half being super smooth. Skylines were in the "super smooth" category of course, though unfortunately I haven't been able to find them in a while and I'm pretty sure they've been discontinued. I miss them, they were so damn refreshing -- like smoking a mint. Of course, I got megafucked when the smoking age changed from 18 to 21 in this state, and that's what actually caused me to quit. I couldn't even buy NICOTINE GUM anymore and just had to quit cold turkey. I now mainly use dipping tobacco, though I suppose that's another thread in its own right.

I smoke Marlboro reds. I don't think I've ever felt the nicotine rush since I don't chainsmoke, like some lains here have somewhat specified. I only smoke 1-5 times a day, but could up to 10+ when out drinking. I have 1 experience, though, but unsure if that classifies as a rush. I smoked just 1 and immediately lied down in bed after, and I felt like my body was floating above just where I lie. The effect lasted for just a couple of seconds, but it was intense. That was the 1st. I smoke because I feel that it helps me think more clearly. I'm pretty much a disorganized person, and I sometimes smoke when doing things to take a break and think things through, like when I paint, or cook, or when having an interesting conversation with smoker friends.

I spend around $100NZD a week on tobacco I smoke Holiday, it's a very mid-priced cigarrete here, if you want marlboros you'll be paying $27 for a pack of 20's Holiday costs $25 a pack, the only thing that would make me stop smoking is when I can't afford it. My parents pay for my accommodation and I work minimum wage. I spend around $60 on food and fuel. Rest goes to ciggies. I find if I have just one a day, or two, I really enjoy it. Getting dependent on having one every couple of hours becomes a hassle, trying to find somewhere where it won't affect other people, dealing with the terrible weather here. Like last night. I had my one for the night and was really enjoying sitting by the door in the cold breeze. I went inside and realized I really just wanted to sit and enjoy that breeze some more, a wind that which was cold but not with rain or snow, and look at the sky some more. So I did. People who smoke seem to appreciate that sort of short, alone time a lot more. Also I used to play music with a guy who never smoked but liked the fact that I did because we'd put the instruments down and go outside and talk about what we'd just done and what we'd do next. Highly suggest any lains who smoke to look into whole-leaf tobacco... It is untaxed and a far superior product. You process it yourself and it is the way tobacco was meant to be. There are plenty of sites to get it from, I would recommend anyone interested to check out the webstore LeafOnly, they have great products and I like to support them. For starters you would want a tobacco grinder and a bulk amount of papers, also raw makes a good rolling machine and their filters are nice if you cut them in half (cotton is a better medium than the weird plastic soykaf filters but you only need half of one...) if you can't hand-roll/prefer them that way.... Technically you can process leaf with scissors, actually is a great way to cut back on smoking, when you have to sit down and craft each smoke only when you really know you want one, did that before I got the grinder. My preference (and the general standard of most cigarette blends) is the organic canadian virgina flue cured with a small amount of burley mixed in.. You can look into other things to add, but most products are going to be flue cured with burley for flavor. The canadian leaf is very smooth and just really delightful. I figure if one is going to smoke, this is probably the best way to do it. After the initial investment of the tobacco grinder it basically pays for itself.. American spirit is basically just this overpriced in bags from a big name company. Seriously, if one is going to bother smoking it should be done right. Just throwing this out there if anyone was interested, I'm really happy to have found out about this.

I really appreciate it for what it is, it really is a shame what they have done to it and I really hope the same thing doesn't happen with cannabis with the whole legalization thing and corporate incentive.. Probably not but idk. Also, organic tobacco is kind of important because the way they regulate it, they can use all these weird ferts/pesticides, I forget exactly which it was but basically they are very radioactive, as it isnt considered a food product they can get away with using strange cheap soykaf and it makes its way into the leaves.. Marlboro red, ideally i'd smoke 3 a day, but i've been smoking a lot more lately, 1 packet a day roughly.

>Any of you smoke? Of course we smoke. >What do you smoke? Cigars, mostly. I'll puff a pipe if someone asks me, but no regular cancer sticks. >How often Varies from weekly to bi-monthly depending on if I have the funds to reasonably spend on cigars (having unreliable income stream is like kicking dead whales down the beach ass, and I only buy cigars if I have enough to meet my savings quota after the purchase anyway)
Bobby Newmark · 2018-02-15 14:24
I used to smoke about 20-30 marlboro red a day, started vaping around christmas because it's way cheaper. I smoked about a pack this year >Why? bc im kool

Now they're all dead. Let's laugh at those ignorant pricks!!! How will you know the smoker lainons are dead, since they're anonymous? Not that it's the norm by any means, but some people get very old despite being smokers, so you'll probably have a few that are straggling on. >>1318 >I'm pretty sure everyone and their mother knows the dangers of smoking. You'd be surprised. There are some dumb people. I know a handful of people who say that smoking isn't "really all that dangerous" and that the negative reputation is "just big pharma trying to stick it to the cigarette industry so they can sell more nicotine patches and vape juice. Our ancestors have been smoking for centuries and were perfectly fine and healthy. I picked up cigarettes at university, but the amount I smoke varies a lot. Some weeks I go through a couple packs and others I go a few weeks without smoking cigs. I never get cravings for cigarettes which is really weird, but I guess I'm not complaining. I alternate between different packs a bunch but right now I'm on pic related. Cheap and tastes nice and fresh, but I have to smoke a few for a good buzz. The most annoying part of cigs to me is the lingering smell of tobacco on my hands and in my hair, and with these I hardly notice it. Before these I was really into black american spirits and I have a pack of dark greens around somewhere. Sometimes I like the short newport smooth selects but they taste terrible. I hate the taste of tobacco a lot so I stick mostly to menthols.

>>1318 >I'm pretty sure everyone and their mother knows the dangers of smoking. What about all the people here who are psychologically addicted out of wishfull thinking the nootropic effects? There are some pretty stupid things in this thread that one would expect not to see here, outside the internet i expect even worse mindsets. >Tobacco itself is really a nice plant ally.. I really appreciate it for what it is, it really is a shame what they have done to it Probably takes the crown. It makes you wonder how much that lainon would enjoy working with that hellish tree.

The other day I bummed a cig off some dude, he had 8 facing opposite of how they are supposed to and when I grabbed it he said "nah nah man not that one those ones are special", so I grabbed the ones facing correct. I didn't realize anything was up with him until I walked away and he was really, like REALLY into his music. But whatever you know hes vibing I didn't pay any mind. I sit down to smoke, these were just some newports, and get the most fuarrrking intense sensation. Like im a regular smoker of spirits, so this should not have been what it was. I have no idea what they were dipped in, I imagine PCP just cause thats how it goes but i've never tried that so couldn't say. Wasn't dissimilar to a ketamine type feeling at the least. I walk back about 30 minutes later after getting my bearings again, he's still just posted up on his spot and he's like screaming the lyrics. He was dressed alright and clean so I had no idea, and I guess I still have no idea whats up. He wasn't dealing anything, I feel like he woulda offered me for sure cause I always get offered and I asked him for a cig. Just getting really fuarrrked up standing on the curb against a wall smoking some laced cigs. I think the ones facing up were the dipped ones and thats why he said not those but maybe something rubbed off on the others or he just messed up. yeah just saw this thread and thought id share that. certainly a first.

related to this, what's your opinions on bic/zippo/matches/other? I usually use a bic just for convenience, matches every so often and i've tried a zippo for a bit but i never really noticed a difference. not going to lie though, makes me feel at least slightly classy/badass using matches, that's assuming i can light it first try and not look like a fumbling idiot.
Mitnick · 2018-05-08 06:02
>>1729 fuarrrk matches, I use if I forget lighter them cause gas stations always hand em out, but the wiiind. I have a zippo but no fluid. They are cool cause of the designs you can get and also some are limited edition so they increase in value. I usually just use a regular lighter
Case · 2018-05-15 03:04
i ""quit""" a few months ago and got a vape with harm minimisation in mind (its also much cheaper for me), the only time i really get the urge to use it is in the morning or with but i find myself using it out of boredom. I feel a lot better physically because of it i used to smoke 10-15 a day for about 5 years and hated myself for it, ive made enough mistakes in life and knew i'd never be able to live with myself if i got to middle age and found out i had cancer/copd/heart issues

I don't smoke often, most weeks I don't even smoke. I only do it when I'm nervous or anxious, sometimes I get the urge when I'm doing nothing at all, but I can hold it back. I smoke black Chesterfields cause those are the ones I always buy, but if I smoked more often I'd buy a different pack every time just to try

I recently found a pack of these just lying around on top of a trash can outside, i'm pretty sure it belonged to some construction workers but I snuck it and no one noticed (hehe). Hey I don't feel bad, i'm 20 and the age is 21 in my state so it's a hassle to get tobacco anyways. Have to get friends to buy it every time or late night smoke shop to smoke shop hopping till one doesn't take ID. There was only 5 left anyways of the initial 20. I'm not a cigar guy, I've smoked some backwoods before that I had for weed when I ran out of cigs and was desperate. However I realized i'd been smoking them wrong, I wasn't inhaling but I was just kind of not pulling right. After smoking three of these I finally got the hang of kind of puffing in and out and having the smoke swish around your mouth without burning the fuarrrk out of it. Obviously these aren't big boy expensive cigars, but just wondering if anyone knows if they are good quality for mini cigars? Also curious how expensive they are compared to a pack of say spirits. Like I said I didn't like cigars before cause it was too harsh but now that I got the hang of it I kind of like these small ones because they last just a bit longer then a cigarette (i like to take long smoke breaks) but I don't have to sit out there for 20-30 minutes like with a real cigar. Also I smell smoky in a pleasant way instead of a trashy way after. My friendo that normally complains about me smelling like cigs said I smelled nice.

>>159 Snus, my dude. At least if you can get it. Very strong and it doesn't mess up your lungs. Highly recommended. There's also snuff that has been gaining popularity recently, though the idea of snorting the stuff doesn't sit well with me.

I've recently starting picking smoking up. I'm an asthmatic. I know this is a bad idea, but it definitely seems like it helps me stay on task. If I can't focus or concentrate, a cup of coffee and a cigarette do wonders for it. Surely there's a way to do it and NOT get addicted? individual cigarettes aren't harming my lung function significantly. maybe one week on/one week off?
Crash Override · 2018-06-13 08:54
>>1937 >Surely there's a way to do it and NOT get addicted? Some people dont get addicted for some reason, but for most once you smoke one its over and stopping is tremendous task. You can roll your own cigarettes with herbs mixed in them like mint that might make it easier to breath.
The Fin · 2018-06-13 14:13
>>1937 It took me a full year of smoking almost every day to actually become addicted. Some people get hooked easily some don't it's just random luck I think.
Mentat · 2018-06-15 20:22
>>1937 Just be careful about it. And do consider alternatives. There's a lot of other ways to get nicotine which won't damage your lungs.
Sabo Engle · 2018-06-15 20:54
>>1939 I'm a person who smokes just kinda whenever and I've never been addicted. You can ask me whatever I guess. I have an addictive personality toward other things, but with cigs I can buy a pack and then not smoke for 5 months, then smoke bumming cigs socially from others on occasion for a few months, then not smoke for a year straight then buy a bunch of packs when I'm in a state where they are cheap. It becomes more of an issue when you make it the 'breaking' activity in your life or something. If you have something else which fills that, you won't get addicted IMHO. For me that activity is food and I will just eat all the damn time, and I'm overweight.

>>1937 i started smoking a month ago after i found a pack on the ground and im not reliant on them at all, just have a smoke if im ever anxious or bored. it probably depends on your personality, whether you easily get addicted to stuff or not. though saying that, i got unhealthily addicted to competitive vidya for years.
