Amanita

Leto Atreides I · 2016-05-07 15:11
Anyone had experience with this family of mushroom? Also does anyone know of any good resources for learning how to identify or a chart or quick guide? I have been struggling to find a good resource.

Its poisenous as fuck. The worst thing about amanita is that its poison start showing effect only after 24 hours. With such delay, your liver is basically cooked and slow painful death awaits you. Not even dialysis can help.

>>2881 Amanita Muscaria is easy to identify, I doubt if there's an easier mushroom to ID. Just dry them out properly (you can find ways to prepare them on the net easily). I experienced no stomach pain or anything but that's because I dried them instead of eating them raw. Some people really like the taste but I hated it. The trip lasts quite long so don't expect to productive that day. The first time I accidentally burned them in the oven so nothing really happened. The second time I decided I should eat more caps (I ate 7-9 caps I think but I'm not sure) and that time dried the mushrooms properly and very slowly in the oven on low heat with the oven half open. Ogh boy the trip was wild, it was my first time trying something else besides weed. When it was in full effect I was lying on my bed hallucinating (the room was dark). It wasn't anything colorful but it was still quite the experience for me. I thought I was tripping for weeks, maybe even months (I lost the track of time completely). It felt like I was walking though different dimensions. It was quite scary, I thought I was going to die, I thought the world was coming to an end. I'm not eating amanita again. It was a very different experience but just try and get normal shrooms. Before eating them I was aware of what will happen but when it feels like months are passing by and you're trapped in a different colorless dimension and you're running towards the light... well it feels like you're really about to die.

>>2885 Amanita Muscaria is not as poisonous as you have been told it is, you need to eat a fuck tonne to die. Most Deaths are attributed to look alike mushrooms. I live in AUS and there are two other species of Amanita here, one looks totally different and the other I don't know can't find pics or a description. I'll post a couple of pictures of some I found.

I am fairly confident after some reading that Amanita Muscaria is no where near as deadly as everyone says it is, there are no confirmed deaths attributed directly to this specific mushroom, however it is still potentially dangerous. With careful preparation it should be okay. Apparently there are few look alikes to this mushroom and it is very easy to identify. Picked one today and drying it out.
Ein · 2016-05-11 18:08
One of the lainons above said it's easy to identify... that's partially true. You have to be very careful you don't accidentally misidentify a phalloid as a muscaria. The phalloid typically is not as red, but sometimes it can look damn close to the muscaria. The phalloid is also known as the death cap because it has killed people who've eaten it. IMHO, amanita muscaria are nothing great. Psilocybe cubensis is the best of the mushroom world. I've heard azurescens are also a good trip, essentially like a cubensis trip but they are far more potent. Happy shrooming.

>>2894 A. muscaria's are quite foolproof. Unless you eat 10 -15 of them you can't kill yourself. >>2881 http://www.first-nature.com/fungi/amanita-muscaria.php#identification

OP here Can confirm I didn't die from the Fly Muscaria, It was actually quite tasty, I highly recommend it, just prepare it properly, pay your respects to the mushroom and chill with nice people.

>>2886 I have tried one cap and it was terrible eating, I hate the fucking taste man. How do you recommend consuming them?
H.R. Giger · 2016-07-12 19:15
Don't like the effects. Five or so times i've taken them, it's been like lite delirium tremens, but without high risk of death. The intoxication left me completely depressed - complete opposite of psilocybe mushrooms. Amanita muscaria works much better as a 'stake', but then again, there are other potentially large caps without two poisonous substances (of course, all edible mushrooms tax the liver slightly and some previously heavily used mushrooms are no longer recommended, like the close cousin of Boletus edulis, which name i dont know remember, but which is widely used in Eastern Europe) to prepare your dinner of.
Dr. X · 2016-07-12 19:46
>>3413 What are the effects?
Jet Black · 2016-08-06 11:19
>>3414 Effects: - sedation - dissociation - delirium - confusion - nausea These produce various other effects depending on your set and setting. If you lie down on your bed and don't move, you quickly lose your body awareness and get a feeling like hoovering in the air. Walking feels like always slipping on some thin layer of air. In the woods things can become spooky. With closed eyes you feel very big or very small thanks to dissociation. If you decide to eat amanitas for the mind-altering effects, make sure to eat nothing else or very little to prevent nausea. Also be a true shaman and drink your piss! You will be awarded with prolonged and increased effects, as Muscimole is not processed by the liver and will leave your body untouched, ready to fuck you up even more. I made tea from it and it was awful. Only Kratom is worse.

>>3601 I would to experience that as long as I don't become delirious and hurt myself or someone else. What dosages was your waifu taking?
hyper-lethal · 2016-08-20 14:55
>>3603 8 grams made from decarboxylation, it was then put into a tea bag and drank with warm water like a herbal tea. My waifu chose a smaller dose because her mushies looked really healthy when she picked them, the concentrations can vary greatly, however the general rule she finds with a recreational dose is to not exceed the upper limits of 16-18 grams. Decarboxylation is a MUST, raw mushies contain the neurotoxin ibotenic acid, you don't want to fry your brain.
Alice Miyuki · 2016-08-20 15:36
>>3606 When I bought mines they were already dried but it seems like they absorb moisture very quickly or a lot. Probably gonna have to do something about that man. Haha they were so fucking nasty when I tried to just straight up eat a cap. Tea must taste equally as ass.
Batou · 2016-08-21 01:06
>>3593 my waifu says between dissociative and psychedelic. She thinks it might be dependent on dose as well as set & setting. read a couple reports on erowid and you would get the gist of it. >>3603 you must have an experienced and trusted sitter with you, preferably someone strong enough to help you in case of need. You MUST not do Amanitas alone, they not to be joked with. In a case of overdose you completely disconnect from the real world and lose all ability to walk, so prepare accordingly. Dosage would be anyone's guess since mushrooms have a wide range of activity, but a large amanita seems to be good for an average person. Just cook the tea and allow your body to tell you if it's enough or not. just stop drinking when you feel like you've drank enough. >>3606 >8 grams made from decarboxylation >Decarboxylation is a MUST I'd like to know how you accomplished this. Would you explain what you did? >>3607 what I said here >>3567 is based on paper where they reported complete conversion of ibotenic acid to muscimol in boiling water in low pH, in about 3 hours. drying the shrooms alone or making a tea with neutral ph doesn't do much to ibotenic acid. >>3607 the active ingredients are very stable, you don't need to worry.

My Waifu highly recommends finding your own out in the wild it makes the experience so much different she says. >>3608 MY WAIFU IS NO EXPERT, SHE TAKES NO CREDIT FOR YOUR UNTIMELY DEMISE IF YOU FUCK THIS UP AND YOUR EYES ROLL INTO THE BACK OF YOUR HEAD. She basically dried them out very slowly after adding a bit of water always keeping the temperature well under 70c. Remember any amount of neurotoxin is not good. >>https://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp.php?ID=98391 >>https://www.dmt-nexus.me/forum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=33146 If you are serious about trying these mushrooms this is a must read. >>https://www.erowid.org/plants/amanitas/amanitas.shtml >>3609 My Waifu does not have any evidence, My waifu really doubts a single recreational dose will do damage to an adult. Be careful eating raw A.M though, infact she highly discourages it, the concentration of ibotenic acid can be unpredictable. I do have any anecdote about a family friend who ate too many shrooms, specifically raw A.M it is believed, to this day he is in a vegetative state and his eyes wander in different directions. (I take this story with a grain of salt, I believe it was invented by my parents to scare me away from drugs when I was a teenager).

>>3611 check this paper. decarboxylation with dmso is slow.
Batou · 2016-08-21 17:20
>>3611 ''Fresh A. muscaria typically contains 258 to 471 ppm of ibotenic acid within the entirety of the fungi. Nearly all the ibotenic acid concentrated in the caps, and very little muscimol present.2 Typically, the ibotenic acid to muscimol ratio of fungal cap tissue would be 9:1 or greater in fresh samples.2 While drying of the fungal tissue has been reported to convert a portion of the ibotenic acid to muscimol, such conversion is incomplete and highly variable according to sample variation and conditions. Indeed, a relatively low conversion rate of only 30% is typical by merely drying fungal tissue, leaving an unacceptably high concentration of ibotenic acid, typically 180 to 1800 ppm.3,4 A common ibotenic acid to muscimol ratio would be 3:2 in dried specimens4, such that the neurotoxin amounts far exceed the GABA analogue. My waifus experience confirmed what I read about them: There are three states of the trip. At first you have the come-up with nausea and stuff. Then you enter a dreamy state of starring and introversion (my waifus favourite part). In the end my waifu perceived random energy bursts. My waifu dried and stored them for approximately a year in hope, that the major part of the ibotenic acid would become muscimol in that time. We then prepared a brew from it, using the same source material for three times. Indeed the taste is disgusting. I recommend the consumption of minor amounts of alcohol during the trip. This increases the immersion and dream-like state dramatically, my waifu said.

>>3636 What type of shit do you see?
Pulse · 2016-08-26 15:18
>>3637 It is much like the dreamy immersion one gets from weed, but more on the delirious side with everyday situations and subjects, short plots or developing stories and random shifts in the thought line based on loose associations. These daydreams are pseudo-hallucinations, meaning the imagery of the mind becomes so dominant, that it blends into the surrounding world even though one can't really see it, in contrast to real hallucinations e.g. tracers, environmental orbism, object breathing and so on.
