Stupid deep web stories

Anonymous · 2015-11-05 19:56
Is anyone bothered as I am with the obviously fake deep web stories that people are inventing and posting around the internet? I get it' the deep web is intriguing, but how much further bull soykaf are people going to swallow?
Anonymous · 2015-11-05 20:44
Never been there so I can't pass judgement.
Anonymous · 2015-11-05 20:44
Just wait until they hear about the deepdark.

>>18802 What "deep web stories" are you referring to ?
Anonymous · 2015-11-05 20:48
Christ, stop calling it that. It makes you sound like a journalist or a 12 year old.

It's also sending a false message about encryption and its role in the fight against the governement. It is spreading fear about encryption into the populace and is playing right into the hands of governements that want to ban strong encryption.

>That's Rule 34 right? >No, Rule 34 is the one where there's porn of everything >Yeah, you can find a lot of Rule 34 but you have to go to the Deep Web People around me actually had this conversation.

>>18818 Dude you can google freaking gore porn of your favorite characters and you'll get plenty of results. Want does Tor have? Dead links and scams?
Anonymous · 2015-11-06 03:35
I think it at least partially originated on reddit nosleep/x/other similar boards. It's an easy stand in for what used to be secret chat rooms or forums in the internet horror genre. Part of the mend meme is that you play along, so I'd think before taking these things seriously.

>>18820 that was the whole joke

Anyone using the phrase "deep web" is either a fuarrrking mong or severely misinformed. It originates as far as I know from this fuarrrking ice berg image. The correct term is onion sites or tor network. As for the stories, it's mostly a fuarrrking meme. Nothing bad happens if you install tor, and it's not illegal to do so. There was a bit of easily accessible child pornography before (it was linked on the hidden wiki) but it has been removed from the wiki now. Police raids from about a year ago took down most of the sites as well. Don't by into the hype made by luddites.

>>18820 >>18831 I looked the girl who said it in the face and I don't think she was joking.
Anonymous · 2015-11-07 02:40
>>18850 The deep web is a technical term, it means the web not indexed by search engines. Forums that require registration to view are considered deep web. Onion sites could be considered a dark net, but that isn't a technical term.
Anonymous · 2015-11-07 05:24
>>18850 Can you get v8 for browsing random .onion sites and stumbling upon CP on an unrelated forum or something of the sort? I've wanted to spend some time looking through .onion sites but that's always been my fear: clicking some fun-looking TORchan thread, discovering that it's been derailed into a CP thread, and having the cops knock on my door thinking that I knew exactly what was happening. I also don't really want to type "TOR child pornography laws" into any sort of search engine for probably obvious reasons.
Anonymous · 2015-11-07 22:35
>>18882 Using the term "deep weeb" makes you sound like a retard, though. You're better off saying Onion sites if you're talking about Tor. >>18895 >Can you get v8 for browsing random .onion sites and stumbling upon CP on an unrelated forum or something of the sort? No. If you're not deliberately looking for CP you're not gonna find CP, anyway, unless you do dumb soykaf like clicking on links in foreign languages that you don't understand. Seriously though, onion sites are pretty dead and boring.

My uncle once told my brother that he invented the deep web. He drinks a lot.
Anonymous · 2015-11-09 06:40
im positive deep web is better than whatever lengthy obnoxious term you all have in mind. and for the record the "deepweb" people talk about isnt just tor, i2p and im sure other services also have their own special domains only accessible through their encryption.
Anonymous · 2015-11-09 10:17
>>18975 That is called a private network, genius. When normies say deepweb they just mean Onion sites.
Anonymous · 2015-11-10 05:56
The media has made it look dangerous. Alot of people think that appearing like they live on the edge makes them better in some way.
Anonymous · 2015-11-11 05:02
>>19031 The media has made it look dangerous because it isn't controlled by the government
Anonymous · 2015-11-11 06:48
>>19077 Well the amount of child porn sites and hitmen sites doesn't help.

Deep Web = "Pages/Data not indexed/indexable by search engines or a URL" Dark Web = "Encryted, generally untraceable/observable pages/data which can only be accessed through specific means."
Anonymous · 2015-11-11 08:44
>>19081 The child porn sites are a lot more prevalant on the clearnet. I'd honestly rather have pedophiles protected by Tor than have them view it on the clearnet and run the risk of the site being found by somebody unaware or ending up arrested/raped in prison. Unfortunately, reforming or reconsidering laws to better fit public interest isn't as high-priority as prosecuting people who might as well be living buzzwords (pedophiles, terrorists, vandals, thieves, ideological extremists).
