Soundcloud thread

Anonymous · 2015-08-22 20:35
I just uploaded something to soundcloud, and then I realised we didn't have a soundcloud thread here yet. Share and discuss your music, give advice, etc. Mine is https://soundcloud.com/the-gravid-myrmidon It's almost exclusively piano stuff, because I rarely have the opportunity to record something else. Not really sure what the genre would be.

>>1390 Nice stuff. I've always wanted to learn the piano. I might actually buy a basic keyboard soon just to learn, is there anything I should look out for spec wise? I make weird space beats and stuff: https://soundcloud.com/second-left

>>1397 Well, like any instrument, you should try it in a store before you buy it. Never just order instruments. The things to most look out for is mostly the obvious stuff: do the keys feel sturdy enough yet are they not too hard to push down, are the speakers and samples not too soykafty, that kind of stuff. I'd also recommend picking one with a midi output, so you can easily record (assuming you're interested in that). Digging your music by the way.

https://soundcloud.com/deadformant/ufotudemo1/s-RlACg I'm still letting this sit incase I have some differing thoughts but I still love what I've done with this, always lookin for advice / criticisms

>>1408 Really nice stuff. I personally like the more calm bits best, if that's worth anything to you, but I think it sounds pretty complete overall.
Anonymous · 2015-08-25 19:59
>>1390 I like these, feeling like learning the piano myself, as well. >>1397 Pretty spacey, I keep waiting for something to happen, though. >>1408 I really like this, like...neuro-chillwave or something. https://soundcloud.com/iheartnursey I make chiptune on my gameboy.

I'm planning to make an album under my M88 alias (the synthwave music), maybe with 5 or 6 tracks, instrumentals and, if I have the chance, will ask a girl if she can sing to me lol Wanna write a cyberpunk song. >>1397 >>1408 >>1416 >>1417 >>1419 >>1429 Interesting works guys! Would love to hear more

>>1425 Renoise is my favorite DAW, but I use Live for bigger projects. Your stuff is nice, but definitely not style of music that I listen and make. Here are some mine sample-based tracks from Renoise. https://soundcloud.com/saintek/2weiis https://soundcloud.com/saintek/delusion https://soundcloud.com/saintek/progresja What's original track for your PIN?
Anonymous · 2015-08-28 15:33
>>1429 You should expand on this, it's great! Any chance you could share the link to your site?
Anonymous · 2015-08-28 16:27
>>1431 PIN is a remix of the opening theme of Wakaba Girl. I get you about using Live though, I'm trying to learn Reaper a bit. Renoise is best for editing details, but it's not great for recording stuff.

Have any lainons managed to get a decent vst-compatible set up on linux? This seems like the best place to ask. I've just recently switched over from windows for a bit, so I have lots of old project files that I'd like to load. I tried using wine, but it seems to be fairly buggy. I'm going to have a look at dssi wrappers and stuff next. Has anyone managed to set something up so that they don't have to reconfigure their project files every time?

Hello, first post on lainchan, been lurking for a couple months. Made a couple albums of chiptunes back in high school, now I just dabble and post to soundcloud. I feel like some of the tracks are oddly suited for cyberpunk, even though I hadn't heard of the idea back then: https://soundcloud.com/sapr8bit

I make a lot of generally electronic stuff. Can't really place any of it into a particular genre. This one is quite drum'n'bass-y: https://soundcloud.com/mrdetonia/waxy-wane Free albums here for those who like: https://zacb.bandcamp.com/ >dfw lainchan knows my name now
