The technobabble is better than usual for TV writing, but it's kinda cheesy at the same time. Pretty fun /cyb/ish show imo if you don't take it too seriously, but I doubt it will have enough appeal to last past the first season.

Anyhow that show is promising, it has the potential to provide actual social commentary, but i fear it'll just turn into leegiun soykaf. alright. I'm 40 minutes in and I'm loving it. I'll definitely be looking out for the next episodes. It seems like the writers ACTUALLY know what their writing and not going the 2 hackers 1 keyboard route. plus http://www.whoismrrobot.com/

>>1030 It feels as if scenarists are only now taking computing and the people behind it seriously. Between this show and Silicon Valley or Halt and Catch Fire, it's refreshing to see that some of them do indeed try to understand it and not handwave it with revolving 3D cubes. I still love how over the top that latter approach is though.

Tried watching it once and couldn't make it through the opening edgy speech. Just tried again and I made it to where his boss tells him to dress appropriately. I can't handle this show, having a minimal level of understanding of modern technology has destroyed my ability to watch things like that.
Anonymous · 2015-06-05 16:14
>>1038 It's not that bad, what's bothering you specifically? I mean as with any show it depends on the mindset you are watching it in, but the first episode is pretty much your standard issue cyberpunk scenario with a realistic skin.
Anonymous · 2015-06-05 16:45
>>1038 You probably just have a narrow attention span.
Anonymous · 2015-06-05 17:44
>>1039 >realistic This is precisely the issue for me. I can't suspend my disbelief because I am too close to the type of situations that this show fictionalizes. My initial problem was that the opening speech made me embarassed for the person making it, but on my second attempt I just couldn't take it seriously becuase it violates so much what I know about how the computing world works. I couldn't manage to take it as "so bad it's good" either. Unlike CSI it actually seems to be trying, and that's why it's so much harder to watch.
Anonymous · 2015-06-05 20:27
>>1041 specifics please? As someone who is also very close to technology I was still able to let the minor things slide for the sake of enjoying my hour with the show.

Anonymous · 2015-07-10 16:08
>>1051 Really? What's so disappointing about it? Last week, I finally checked it out, and I was actually quite surprised. The technobabble is miles above anything that I've watched before, which makes it easier to take seriously. The storyline is a bit silly, but overall it is not bad at all - I'd call it Dexter about hacking. There is one thing that worries me a lot, though, and it's Mr. Robot himself. I really hope that there is no plot twist about him being only in Elliot's mind, even though it seems like a very likely direction. It'd be really cool if it was actually a red herring.
Anonymous · 2015-07-10 16:22
>>1052 Unfortunately it seems very likely that it will end up that way. Mr Robot has never interacted with anyone else and people only react to Eliot when he is present. None of the fsociety members have so much as looked at him or mentioned him

Anonymous · 2015-07-23 10:43
>>1116 I don't think it proved anything. I'd say that when we saw both of them talking, it could be perceived as one or the other personality "fronting". I do agree that it is more ambiguous now, but if it turns out to be the plot twist, the first couple of episodes made it a bit too obvious.
Anonymous · 2015-07-23 12:48
>>1117 I'm not sure in what to believe anymore in the first 4 eps no one talked to him but all out of the sudden he became Arsene Lupin. I think that Eliot is too socially crippled to bump into people. Also that rage scene when he started kicking/throwing stuff.

This season only has two episodes left and after that we are going to have to wait a long time for season two. I really do like how all the episodes are really connected, just picking up one from the middle won't get you much like a lot of other series. I wish that there were more tech in the series, so we could have our TV series that were more of Hackers/War Games of our decade. But really can't complain, this series is good.

That will be the set up for season two, they were young, disorganized, not ready or whatever reason they can think of for what they were taking on. So in season two they will have cops/hackers/bosses breathing down their necks while they try to do it all over again. But I don't think that means more tech just because they say "The best is yet to come", because that can mean a lot of different thing, especially for non tech people. All in all, pretty much the best series on television we have. Only one I'm really following and looking forward too.
