*this board is currently in 30-day trial status*
pls make a better sticky.
Anonymous · 2015-06-17 05:26
Well huzzah and hurrah!
Anonymous · 2015-06-17 05:54
Thank you for this!
I love you!

GREAT
But I think allowing non-OC discussion would be better. There's art in /r/ but not much OC.
btw, keep in mind that there will be threads worth archiving.
Art threads to move here:
>>>/r/7025
>>>/r/9433
>>>/r/6072
>>>/r/9099
For the sticky:
>>>/r/8283
>>>/r/8293
Anonymous · 2015-06-17 06:24
>>15
these do not belong on /art/
>>>/r/6072
>>>/r/9099
not sure about
>>>/r/7025
being in /art/ but maybe
the others are good though

why
Anonymous · 2015-06-17 06:36
>>20
>>>/r/6072
has nothing to do with art, if anything it belong on /tech/ since the thread is talking about what technology they use to listen to music.
>>>/r/9099
Doesn't discuss the artistic values of the moves its just a thread on what movies you like. If they were discussing different artistic styes\movements that influenced the movies than ok, but it doesn't.
>>>/r/9433
has lainons creating art, so it definitely deserves to be in /art/
we dont want to have everything considered art to be in /art/ because then everything in /c/ /w/ and the /cyb/wallpaper thread would be in /art/
We can have a OC Wallpaper thread though and OC cute pictures thread.
Anonymous · 2015-06-17 06:41
>>22
we could also have a thread where we share an image and discuss how to make similar effects.
and threads about specific artists.
both these ^ ideas work with pic related

>we dont want to have everything considered art to be in /art/ because then everything in /c/ /w/ and the /cyb/wallpaper thread would be in /art/
I hope we won't have any "what is art?" arguments either.

I don't think that's what most of us had in mind when asking for /art/, what you are describing should be named /oc/.
Note that /art/ includes /oc/.
Personally I wanted /art/ for discussing music by genres because /mu/ is like kicking dead whales down the beach in all IBs I know.
>we dont want to have everything considered art to be in /art/ because then everything in /c/ /w/ and the /cyb/wallpaper thread would be in /art/
>We
Speak for yourself. Unless you're a mod or something.
I am ok with that the inclusion you dislike about.
Do you think that say that only OC /c/, /w/, and /cyb/ should be allowed here?
That would dilute the art topics across boards.
Anonymous · 2015-06-17 07:25
Strangely enough I am supportive of all art being in /art/. I know I might be ahead of my time in thinking that art belongs in an art thread but hey, what would I know?

>Do you think that say that only OC /c/, /w/, and /cyb/ should be allowed here?
no, what im saying is that those boards have there own content and all of their content shouldn't be moved to /art/
>I am ok with that the inclusion you dislike about.
not sure what you mean by this.

How about "/media/ - image, music, video"?
>>29
>no, what im saying is that those boards have there own content and all of their content shouldn't be moved to /art/
Ok then, I misunderstood. I think the same about not moving too much threads, but would like to allow new art threads that aren't about OC.
So, would you prefer "/art/ - Original Content" or "/art/ - art"?
>not sure what you mean by this.
Sorry, I accidentally the sentence.
I meant that "I am ok with the inclusion [of non-OC art in /art/] you dislike".

I agree that /art/ is too narrow and would likely create meaningless discussions about what should be allowed in the board. /media/, on the other hand is quite broad, but it could create problems in other boards, so I am not exactly sure.
I guess /media/ is better, though.

Art covers it - video is art, film is, drawigns are, sound can be.
So without getting too autistic about this - Art=creative=ok.
Music can have a place in random? if it does not need its own board?
Anonymous · 2015-06-18 15:07
I started a thread about CGI - can we extend this to graphics/imaging spacific talk not just an image gallery? - as that might get a bit stale if strictly OC or if not it might just become like a bedroom wall of pics.
Gives it some diversity/depth and can give a more cyber edge to image talk.
I hope others agree as I feel it will allow a richer convosation/content while still being very relevent to art. - think of it like discussing your fave brushes or paper!

Deffo - /c/ + /w/ are not what art should be about, they got their own thing going on...
Yes I think we could bring in Cyber art wallpapers and mood images as it fits this board - cyb should be less about the art and more about the movement! It would only mean moving 2 or so threads to hear... and saves a space for other topics in cyb rather than filling a slot with wallpapers and mood pics.
N.B. we could also have creative photography and photo talk hear...
Ok maybe we could change from /art/ to /image/ but realy who cares its the content that will make or brake this board not the lable!

I think something like Creative would be a more fitting board name. Lainons could share what they work on and create. In other words, a place for original content and discussion related to the process of creation. It could be anything; drawing, music, 3D, games, etc. I think that sharing media that one has enjoyed from someone else should keep to a separate board(s), since it's more consumption than creation. It is better to have a splinter in this case. Creators often struggle with sustained attention, so a board that encourages keeping focused on point to what they are doing would be beneficial.
Whatever happens, it's nice to have this counterpart to the logic-based nature of the site.

that feel when the /art/board arives when you leave

And yet you are back! I guess we didn't fail you after all. The site is moving in a favorable way Present Day, Present Time! AHAHAHAHAHA!

Lol. Seeing how the first post here is from June 17, 2015...
I think it's safe to say that the board has surpassed 'trial status'. Might not be a bad idea to unsticky it too.
