Web Dev General /wdg/

There are a few threads about web development at the moment, but they are somewhat specific.
This thread is for discussing any topics related to web development, including web programming, frameworks, dev ops, hosting, etc.

When do you know if your site is ready to be released?
I made a site using Flask, and it's going to be used by thousands of people. It doesn't use Celery or other async technologies, so I've tried to make the pages as small as possible (670kb, compared to the average 2000+kb sites that exist today). I've also tried to make the algorithms efficient too, however, for the sake of time spend developing, I am using Pandas for table manipulation, which create large DataFrame objects compared to an ordinary tuple I could have used.
For hosting I am using pythonanywhere, so all the server stuff is handled by them. For a site that gets this much traffic, is Cloudflare a necessity?
Essentially: how can I be comfortable the site isn't going to soykaf itself and make me look bad?

I guess KurobaEx doesn't have a non-spoiler option for images, sorry lainanons.

The more I get into web dev (I only use vanilla stuff for now) the more I feel like the HTML/CSS and javascript aren't connected to each other that much.
Sure, you can manipulate dom and stuff but it feel like you're doing it with thongs through a small window.
Is this what all the frameworks all about? Do they actually make the process less painful?

Bootstrap is actually a huge time saver. I redid all the CSS for my site using BS in an hour when it took me days to write it by hand using plain CSS.
Frontend frameworks like React simplify UIs greatly is you have a state to maintain. Backend frameworks that support routing let's you not worry about hrefs all over your HTML pages.

Bad OP. You should have linked some resources. For example:
>>>/Ω/66804
>https://www.w3schools.com/html/ (this site is only good for basic HTML+CSS)
>https://web.dev

Do people even use the links in generals?

I think that's the case Lainanon. The web is pretty much people building on top of a hot mess and creating stuff to make it more manageable, just look at the whole JS bundler nonsense. It's a bunch of crap and magic flying everywhere, I never really bothered to get into 'Vanilla' past doing simple media queries. Working with JS on React is already painful enough, I can't even picture what a pain it must be to do a big app on vanilla JS.

It's probably a 4chan thing. /g/ generals get bombarded with 'how do I learn to do for loop', with the low traffic of Lainchan I don't think anyone minds a free bump.

Another good resource is javascript.info

How do I make and host own Chan? I wanna do it all myself
Since hosting it myself. I want it to be really simple.
I don't know where to start I'm clueless at the PC....
I do not want to be in danger

They should but the OP shouldn't be too long.

Writing apps on Vanilla TS is such a breath of fresh air. Was feeling burn out from all the framework nonsense and all the magic they push.

HATEOAS, anyone?
and not the fake, mainstream concept of HATEOAS but the correct one, described here ://htmx.org/essays/hateoas/
>and this fact is reflected internally in the hypermedia. The web browser does not know about the concept of an overdrawn account or, indeed, even what an account is. It simply knows how to present hypermedia representations to a user.
>Hence we have the notion of the Hypermedia being the Engine of Application State. What actions are possible varies as the state of the resource varies and this information is encoded in the hypermedia.
i have some toy projects with which im experimenting with the concept and one thing im becoming aware of is that there are some traps in the dynamic HATEOAS approach such as htmx, hotwired, liveview etc
if you just keep naively building out more and more stuff
>it will work all along the way
>but you'll end up with spaghetti
and at the moment i don't know what are some ways to prevent spaghetti HATEOAS webapps but i suspect MVC, components, or something entirely different for which i might need to study up on (at least) exliri liveview's approach to things

The book is broken into three parts:
An introduction (or re-introduction) to hypermedia, with a particular focus on HTML and HTTP. We will finish this review of core hypermedia concepts by creating a simple “Web 1.0”-style application, Contact.app, for managing contacts.
Next we will look at how we can use htmx, a hypermedia-oriented JavaScript library created by the authors of this book, to improve Contact.app. By using htmx, we will be able to achieve a level of interactivity in our application that many developers would expect to require a large, sophisticated front end library, such as React. Thanks to htmx, we will be able to do this using hypermedia as our system architecture.
Finally, we will look at a completely different hypermedia system, Hyperview. Hyperview is a mobile hypermedia system, related to, but distinct from the web and created by one of the authors of this book — Adam Stepinski. It supports mobile specific features by providing not only a mobile specific hypermedia, but also a mobile hypermedia client. These novel components, combined with any HTTP server, make it possible to build mobile Hypermedia-Driven Applications.
