What's the best alternative to GitHub? Thought about Codeberg, but it is now chimps out against LLM's and cryptocurrency projects for some reason. Also I remember there was git hosting created by some imageboard dwellers.

this post sold me on Codeberg. This post represents the type of people Codeberg gatekeeps. Thanks lainon.

I didn't know that, codeberg sounds cooler than they already were. To answer your question: host a gitea under your floorboard or whatever.

>>44822 You can just run your own git server on a VPS or at home or something. It's crazy how easy it is actually to set up a secure public-facing git service, takes only a few minutes.

Basically copypaste a single command into terminal and that's it. Would be more wise to read thouroughly about what going on under the hood ofc, but even if it's compromised, it will be isolated decently from the rest of your server stuff.

It's not even this complicated. You just make a special user for git repos and set up the SSH keys. It's seriously that easy.
