Lying on My Resume

Meddler · 2024-04-17 09:49
So I have been stuck in my current position for 3 1/2 years and only now just got a 3.5 percent raise. I am thinking of studying up on a few tech stacks and applying to a junior position. Has anyone had success or have any tips for BSing on a resume?(USER WAS WARNED FOR THIS POST, You should always elaborate on your opinions rather than just spilling the soykaf.)

>>38864 You should clarify what you've been doing at your current position, what country you're in, your qualifications, why you feel the need to lie, and what you would be lying about on your resume

>lying on resume >not knowing the latest buzzwords >never heard of the term "background check" There is a programming employment thread so you just killed a thread, but anyway, to answer your question: You're better off doing sexual favors to the HR manager I'd recommend the IT manager if it wasn't for the fact that they are closeted and will probably become attached, will demand it often and will probably blackmail you if you stop doing it. Remember, you can't spell LGBITQ+ without I.T. Present Day, Present Time! AHAHAHAHAHA! /thread

>>38910 US, Finops, Biz degree+ programming certs and knowledge of Python, because I need 10 years of experience (I am kidding, but everyone wants me to have experience), and my work experience. I have been at the same job three years and is going nowhere.

>>38913 companies looking for entry level developers are companies which have developers in senior roles that can and will perform examination of a candidate's skills, maybe the HR side would be the least concern, like any other job they just like impressive buzzwords and all the business acumen bs Also >python Focus on getting good in whatever is trending in python and apply

>>38864 >>38911 Not this guy, but I do want to know to. What can you lie about (or "exaggerate") on your resume and get away with it? How thorough of a check does HR do? Everyone seems to give only vague answers when it comes to this question, but I want some concrete information. Are background checks a meme or are they a real thing?

>>38918 Op. I do recall reading that a good chunk check for criminal records and college (north of 60%) but I think 49% check job history and other soykaf. Also what is to stop you and some friends from creating a website, registering an LLC and helping one another? Or simply recreate the years you were at X company into Y experience. I have noticed I got mote calls back when I said I was Native American (And I am not exactly lying, just it is so insignificant that most people would not bother). I had a 6% response rate, but not in tech. I also tried Latino but did not seem to push anyone's buttons. Make of that what you will.

>>38918 >Everyone seems to give only vague answers when it comes to this question, but I want some concrete information. Because every business is different. Some check thoroughly, some do a basic background check for criminal record and citizenship, some check nothing.

>>38864 After being stuck in a physical job for 4 years I got tired of it, my friends parents have a company, we made up a story of me being an it admin, after 2 months i landed a well paid job as a real it admin, i tought myself the stuff requiered beforehand and itrs going pretty good. Bro, lie as much as you can cover for on your resume, remember that copanies lie on requirements as well, this fight goes both ways

>>38919 >>38921 But how do they check? Do they just look at your LinkedIn or is there some kind of agency or something? I do have college and some work experience, but it isn't anything glamorous. Do they know the roles you had at a company and the responsibilities? Sometimes I worked as a contractor so how does that play into it? I just want to know how far I can push it, even with the stricter ones.
