I really hate it. So, idk how relevant my pov is due to my very little experience. I decided to get into programming (I have a degree in Psychology but in my country the mental health siences are soykaf). My mum was making databases and such and my dad is an IT admin so since young age i was preoccupied with some stuff from IT. I decided that it would be a valid career change (until i make enough money to continue to PhD safely cause academia is so soykaf you need to fund yourself most of the time even working there). To be honest i am very much into it, i like the whole dopamine release after i find a solution to a minor coding problem in a project i am working on. More rewarding than writing papers, even though i am still more interested in Psychology. However i encountered something that i actually hate, while i was writing a keylogger and after that a web scrapper (python step by step , documentation, stack overflow, no turtorials) for certain torrent sites and enjoyed the fuarrrk out of it i decided to build a website as my next project . So i hated it , i had to learn a bit of JS even for just designing the website (which is what i am doing currently). I hate the way that you need to design and work the whole thing , while i had to solve problems in my previous projects now i am fighting with Bootstrap 5.0 copy paste, i did so because i wanted to avoid CSS as much as possible, but even then i had to write my own custom CSS because the Bootstrap classes didn't work as intended. I hate how much time i spend fighting with words instead of solving something or working on something mechanically (if it makes fuarrrking sense and doesn't sound completely retarded). i see most jobs are on webpages and apps and i really don't wanna work on those. Is it better on the backend? The next step to my website is to create an e-shop in there just to toy with it and connect it to a database for selling agricultural products, i am using Flask for the whole thing but , like i said, i haven't touched database and the actual e-shop yet. I ask again, does it get better when i start with that? Is this why I've seen many posts here (even before i started my current endeavor) hating the state of the web and apps ?

>>38075 You're problem is that you're doing web programming. It's one of the most annoying soykafty things there are. > now i am fighting with Bootstrap 5.0 copy paste Here on the other hand, in all areas of programming you will have to rely on the programs written by other people and you'll have to interface with them which means sticking by their rules and reading a lot of documentation. You will also have to fight with those software a lot so there is no escaping this. The reality is that I'm not really sure what you dislike exactly. If you want to work with databases, web programming frameworks have been designed to abstract the use of databases away. Nowadays you don't really write sql or make ER diagrams and models for a web app so it's databases you won't, don't do web stuff.

>>38076 using CSS is the least painful way if you want to design. Also the new thing is typescript. Its lets fix JS by creating a similiar new language that we can compile back into JS.

>>38083 I've heard of typescript but i thought i should first learn JS (no?)

>>38086 if you learn JS first you will have to think about what is JS and what is typescript syntax. Im having this issue constantly having learned multiple languages and switching between them. So its probably smarter going for typescript straight if thats your endgame anyway.

>>38075 Mate. Don't use Bootstrap. I know ones who tried to learn and use it side by side, and others who consulted GPT models to spit out bootstrap code, and honestly it'll suck the life out of you in modifying it if you want your website to look any other way. CSS is actually interesting. Take my word for it. There's nothing more satisfying than making your website look the way you want. Experiment with it yourself. Dive into the world of color schemes, follow designs on dribble or behance, and try bringing them to life yourself. The more you make this a pursuit for jobs, the less you'll end up learning. Nonetheless, I'm pretty sure you don't have the privilege to while away a little time for birthing curiosity, so if you want a strict learning path, you can look into course aggregators like Frontend Masters (who also cover backend btw). Toy with more projects, it'll get better as you gain expertise in the topic. Try taking in too much at once, and you'll probably feel like puking.

>>38089 Thank you, you're so wholesome and such a sweetie. I have a genuine interest in these stuff and it's more so the reason i chose this to pursue. I totally understand what you say with the toy programmes, i'll keep building stuff and check the resource you mentioned. I am willing to give CSS a try since you're not the only one recommending. In all honesty with Bootstrap I am falling somewhere between those categories of people you mentioned , I will check out your advice.

>>38075 I've worked as a frontend developer for a while but I'm mediocre at it so take this with a pinch of salt. Tailwind made CSS a lot more enjoyable for me. It can be thought of as mere syntactic sugar but it gives you a far less annoying way to write and modify your styling. Maybe check it out
