In my last years of university I got depressed and overwhelmed, failed classes, lost all interest in programming, almost didn't graduate. Since I graduated, I couldn't even get myself to apply for jobs because I was scared of personal questions in interviews and being forced to work and tackling responsibilities I wasn't ready for. It's been a year and I'm still scared, but it's more that the simple process of applying and waiting for offers feels so tiring it doesn't feel worth it.
I was allegedly very good at programming, and I've been enjoying doing some Advent of code and Leetcode soykaf to get my skills back, but I don't know where to take this. What languages/technologies to learn and focus on. I don't know what I "like", I have too many ideas of stuff to do and learn but none of them are interesting enough for me to try over the others, and sometimes I just feel like I need the money right now. I should just choose the most used and well paid for entry level language in my third world country but of course I don't know what that is.
I've been considering freelancing or building my own business but it would take some management and social skills and uhhh I'm not sure I got it. I think I hate how the whole job thing seems so out of my control. And part of me just wants to sleep all day. But I also want to program again just for the sake of solving problems and collaborating on open source and feeling useful.
So what should I do, lainons? How should I approach this? I could get some side hustle like teaching Spanish or tutoring math but that's a whole complex job on its own

no one can answer these questions for you at all
your quickest way into employment is to choose some web framework and learn that, and become good enough at it to build a site in it from nothing
my route into full stack development was building some apps in Django, including an app where users could select other users and send messages to them, eventually i built a nicer frontend for it in React
if you cant apply for jobs and pass interviews, the best way to overcome this is to apply for jobs and just try the interviews, seriously its not hard, just accept you might fail the first 20 interviews before you get good at them
the good news is none of your problems are really that complex, just put in the hours of coding, and apply to lots of jobs, everyone does this and no one is good at it at the start

Hey lain, the programming pill is all buzzwords, promises, and dead ends. Similar to learning latin in the medieval ages, programming is a skill for the rich that is mostly useless unless you are very devoted.
BUT! ,in my opinion, there is still room to reach millionaire status with the web. people can actually look at your work instead of some niche, complex, programming soykaf. Also, I think the web is incomplete and full of opportunity since it has only been around for like 30~ years. And its not so much about "making stuff more performant" which requires a lot of skill, and is more "making stuff usable".
So basically: don't learn programming, but if you do, then webdev is the obvious skill even though there is a lot to learn. It sometimes helps to not do it alone. isidorispiritum on discord ;p

I'm going through something similar, currently in my final year of undergrad. Working on some computer vision final year project. While most of my peers have joined a web stack like MERN or Laravel I'm here empty-handed with no projects and a failing degree.

Do you want to help me create my video game? I've got a wonderful idea, and need programmers to program it.

You could try making it with Godot. GDscript is very similar to Python.
