"Creating" Experience on a Resume

FILLER · 2023-04-23 11:06
I remember putting out a fake resume that expanded on my youth of unemployment as time when I work the summer at X and Y like 6 years ago. Recently I have gotten a few interview requests, but it was for PHP, so I felt a bit unprepared for that. This leads me to another idea I had. Sure not all of us are entrepreneurs, but what about creating your own non-profit to work on an issue in your community? Say volunteering your expertise to a political campaign, to analyzing a polluted river, or something similar, but as an external organization? It seems like a neat hack and does not take much effort. I am probably going to try and opt for route 2 and work on my skills a bit more, but seems like it could work.

>>35171 Unpaid work is literally the same as paid work, you just let employers know you are willing to work for soykaf pay. Its a good way to get work experience tho. Literally just call nonprofits and ask to volunteer.

>>35172 I was thinking of making my own non-profit and make tools for political campaigns, that was I can do stuff I want but still help people. I might do the other as well.

>>35173 >non-profit >political campaigns This sounds like a bad idea my dude. What do you know about either?

>>35174 I volunteered for multiple campaigns and ran for office myself. Independents face an uphill battle so assisting with data analysis seems like an area that could help them significantly.
