Hello lainanons, I've been using JDownlaoder for a few years now and I've been thinking about writing my own downloader to replace it in my daily use. I don't have any experience in writing UIs but I do know how to program in c++, should i make the UI in qt since it uses a language im already familiar with or should i make it in a higher level lang like python, is there also anything to note when writing downloaders?
much thanks

Just make it CLI-based. It'll be much easier, more cross-compatible, faster to compile... the list goes on.

C++ TK/Tinker bindings is what I'd use if I knew C++ (or it's also what I use for one-off GUIs too large for zenity)

Write a Lua CLI program :)

Try making a gui for yt-dlp and gallery-dl first.

I would vote for the same, cli based with optional daemon/client architecture.

If you want to jump straight into making a UI, I'd recommend doing the same, too. I'd like to see what a yt-dlp with a GUI would look like.
I heard good about QT so you could try dipping your feet in it.

what do you mean? it would be a text field a cancel button and download button with an optional way to enter settings
