Sharing one of my pipe dreams

Just a few days ago I discovered that there was a cassette drive made for consumer PCs and I think that is pretty cool. However, it is no longer produced and cannot be bought anywhere, so I thought how cool would it be if people got together to reverse engineer it and make an open source version of it. I know it would be complicated as hell and all, but that is not the point. What got me thinking is how much it is like kicking dead whales down the beach when people get together for things like that, like reverse engineering GTA III to port it properly to PC and improve it over time, only for Rockstar to DMCA the GitHub page. So my pipe dream is an anonymous platform like GitHub but made over I2P, maybe with a Tor front end too, I have read that I2P is more resistant against DDOS. Yeah, I bet this would be very hard and is kind of risky to run, but whatever, here I leave it.

>>91685 if barely anyone has it there's no point in reverse engineering.. just make a new product Gitea exists and you can host it over tor or i2p.. /thread

>>91686 I suggested reverse engineering just to not have to start from scratch. I didn't know about hosting Gitea over I2P though.

There's a p2p Git-like protocol you might be interested in. It also works over Tor https://radicle.xyz/
