UK to ruin VPNs
Jim Hilger · 2026-04-09 07:20
The "labour" peoples party of UK are planning on ruining VPNs to ensure compliance with their online identity checks. UK users need a decent alternative. Their exact methods are not yet decided but the enforcement will likely follow their current identity check plan. They threaten to sue companies that don't do the checking for them. Companies in the UK must comply, those abroad simply have their addresses blocked by the ISP if they don't comply. Tor is obviously a final resort.
Perhaps those in UK should rent hosting and set up a VPN? It's a fixed IP linked to their identity which isn't great but it will allow bypassing identity checks, government content filtering and geographical blocking. The only question is which host to go with? Perhaps somewhere with a greater level of freedom like U.S.A.?

The uniparty of the UK have told the police to ignore non hate crime incident to focus on non crime hate incident, what were you excepted. 20 people go to jail every week for words and they want to pump those numbers.
The goal is to have a population that is afraid to speak so ideas could not circulate, effectively putting the country under a form of mind control.
Freedom is fascist anyway.

rather than ridiculing UK for voting for tyrannical retards pushing neo dystopia, maybe we should focus on ways to help them?

Russians and the Chinese figured it out without much help. Brits are dumb, but they should still be able to do the same. Assuming they want to.

By cat and mouse chasing unblocked VPN/proxy/tor addresses and getting police coming to the door.
Someone has to have thought seriously about this before now. Like carrying a fake phone and using a private VPN server abroad for fake business reasons.

>tor is a last resort
the internet is literally unusable without tor
do you want random idiots to profile you?
just disable javascript.enabled in about:config
no more ads ever, no adblocker plugin needed, lel
add https://web.archive.org/web/%s to a bookmark with keyword wa, then whenever a page blocks tor you just type "wa <URL>" to get past it

lol nope, control + shift + L in tor browser

That's a neat trick! However I meant ISPs blocking tor addresses like in China so they have hidden entry node addresses until the gov finds them and they move onto another in a list. I watched a thing with that Tor dev that was accused of rape for trying to kiss a girl and he said they set up entry nodes and smuggle the addresses to the Chinese some how.
I was thinking of someone in UK setting up their own out of country but at that point you might as well just setup a VPN.

Ah, helpful. I can provide many helpful pieces of advice to accomplish the demotic will of the British people.
Since the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of UK households support the banning of VPNs and the deployment of age verification, we must now consider the best practices for incorporating ID verification into Tor, considering Tor not as a browser but instead at the protocol level. I say that the UK could most easily accomplish this legislatively if they were to accept technical advisors from Meta formerly Facebook, and additional advisement from Alphabet's own Team YouTube. I know this will in and of itself be unpopular given various official positions of the British Labour Party, But Facebook and YouTube have proven to be the platforms most effective at creating and empowering the social environment suited to the preferences of the British population. Facebook and YouTube have incorporated many measures to coax Tor network users to sign in to their official accounts when browsing and using their platforms; most recently (since January 2026) YouTube in particular has targeted Tor network users who employ yt-dlp to gather video data and json files for descriptions and comments on specific videos which can only be ameliorated by attaching your account to your Tor-based activity, or streaming videos while using the wicked and immoral ad-free method of torsocks mpv ytdl://{...} --ytdl-format={...}.
At the protocol level, I think it would be best for the comfort and happiness of the British population if all Tor users were required to sign into a minimum of one credential to access each of the standard 3 nodes to ever use the protocol. In order, to access your gateway node, one should have to sign into that node with a Steam account tied directly to a paying credit card. To then access an intermediary node, one should be forced to add the credentials of their Facebook account. Finally, each exit node should additionally require one's personal Google account. This will serve to age-verify and ID-verify each and every Tor user at every step of using the protocol. Obviously at the exit node stage the full identity and activity record of the user should be automatically furnished to the UK government without notice nor requirement of consent.
This will finally make the internet safe for British children and statesmen and Nigerian ID thieves, thereby helping the British population finally realize their wishes hopes and dreams for the future of their state and curing all the ills and ails that make Tor 'icky' and unsafe.

Does this "overwhelming majority" they are talking about even exist? Or is it something they have made up to justify their shit?
The Oracle · 2026-04-16 02:25

It never really exists.
There was a time when polling was used by political parties to understand what their constituents cared about, so that they could become more popular. That time is long gone. Nowadays, nobody cares about policy, they care about whether their preferred political party is in power. People will go to the ends of the earth to justify whatever insane bullshit their party does.
Polling today exists as a cudgel that those in power use to reinforce their political agenda. Polling which makes your enemy appear popular must be fake while polling that makes you look popular is always overwhelming. Believing that your opinions are commonplace is very powerful; without that belief, you start to become solipsistic and cut off from people you might agree with. In other words, you become more exploitable.
Politicians know this. Why else would Kim Jong Un's approval rating be 100%? And in the so-called "free world", the institutions that at one point tried to provide unbiased, statistically sound polling have started closing up shop. Nobody wants them any more.

another problem is you never truly know if people claiming to be pollsters aren't phone scammers. but yes, the state doesn't care and will use poorly sampled data as a cudgel to manufacture concensus.

Major issue with phone polling is they call landlines which give a population of nothing but the elderly and business owners.

Most of the high-quality pollsters don't do phone polling any more for exactly this reason.
They maintain pools of ~hundreds of thousands of people that are selected by mailing letters to random addresses, and they take a demographic-representative sample of those people to do the actual poll online.
