I still feel like a noob when it comes down to schizo opsec stuff or just basic privacy settings, but I finally have more time to tinker with my thinkpad again and would like to have more anonymity and ownership on my machine. To be fair I only use mullvad + their socks5 and brave with the built-in opendns right now... I'd like to at least be able to visit onion/tor links and avoid (m)any of the absurd EU privacy laws, but I truly have no idea how or where to start. also i know almost nothing about i2p, IRC client/servers, messaging app alternatives like session, simpleX, matrix, etc. so be my guest and share all your knowledge and resources with me.

fuarrrk around and find out. There's tons of alternatives out there, and only you will know which ones are the right ones for you. It's not like it's hard to find the relevant information anyway. >I still feel like a noob when it comes down to schizo opsec stuff If you don't have a legitimate use-case for "schizo opsec", then don't bother. It won't be worth the trouble, trust me. >avoid (m)any of the absurd EU privacy laws Could you clarify on what those are? Asking because I'm not in the EU. >I'd like to at least be able to visit onion/tor links Literally just search for "tor" on your favorite search engine and you'll get your answer. >also i know almost nothing about i2p, IRC client/servers, messaging app alternatives like session, simpleX, matrix, etc. Again, search engine. But do look up i2pd and weechat, they are good software with good wikis, but hard to find if you don't already know what they are. That's all I'm gonna give you.

>>90661 >also i know almost nothing about i2p... https://navigating-the-darkweb.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ I have always found this guide to be coherent and well written, although it delves more into how to make it work than anything else. It includes other protocols as well. If you are interested in how it works in depth, both I2P and other protocols you mention have their documentation freely and publicly available. As the other chap mentioned, none of this is a secret or anything like that. You may find the answer to everything you are looking for simply by using your preferred search engine.

Install Tor Browser and read the DNM bible. http://biblemeowimkh3utujmhm6oh2oeb3ubjw2lpgeq3lahrfr2l6ev6zgyd.onion/content/index.html

>>90671 I2P has some advantages over Tor, but the main downside is that it's not as well-audited or battle-tested as Tor. For instance, I2P is still really cool for stuff like anonymous torrenting.

>>90673 The only good things that I can actually count as good things rather than nothings that are nice to have are unidirectional tunnels, that it's faster, not viewed as this thing used by criminals and CP barrons, and depending on threat model, that the connections to peers are short. >I2P is still really cool for stuff like anonymous torrenting. I wouldn't put ever put my hands on it for anything anonymity related, the actual main downside is that the connections to the nodes is strictly based on performance rather than trust, so basically everyone who has the resources to run performant nodes could deanonymize a horde of people.
