I found this abandoned repository https://gitgud.io/parley/Haruko. It's imageboard software that's not that old but still works. This is what it looked like: https://archive.is/qiLyz. and I would like your help in updating it. It would be a project for “new” imageboard software made with PHP because, from what I've seen, there aren't many like this left, so I created this repository: https://github.com/bigdustycheese/AobaIB which I will update and you will also help me with. >>Why should we help you with this? What do I get in return, OP? It's simply a collaborative fork. If you want to help me, that's fine. No one is forcing you. (If you see this on other imageboards, it's not spam.)

>and I would like your help in updating it. What do you need to "update"? Are there bugs? Missing features? Bitrot?

>>90027 >What do you need to "update"? Are there bugs? Missing features? Bitrot? A little bit of security and optimizing your code isn't that much in itself. If you want, download it and try it out.

>>90029 I don't want to. I'm asking what YOU want

>>90032 Help me fix what I said earlier. It would be very helpful to me.

>>90033 NTA but ...Security? Your last commit covers more than just security, btw... What should I do this? I'm currently working on a lot of things.

>>90035 (Me) I was going to push some stuff forward... But I see a LOT of issues with this code base. Is it LLM generated? Becuase it looks like dog soykaf... And I mean it. What the fuarrrk are you even doing? I don't even want to push them forward. To be hoenst withyou. Most of this soykaf is going to be fixing just the formatting and obvious vulns.

>>90036 To be honest, I haven't touched that part of the code, and I've done almost everything myself and with the help of another person, but if you can solve it, go ahead.

"a modern imageboard like yotsuba made with PHP" I guess forking a dead imageboard source code (last commit 2021) makes it "modern".

I know there is still a long way to go, but I ask that we please be patient. Remember that this is a collaborative project in which you can participate.

>>90053 >ezyro.com Damn free hosting, it screwed up my instance after I published my first post, but everything works fine.

>>90036 jesus christ that is some godawful code, wow
Case · 2025-12-06 07:39
>>90036 >>90061 Peak PHP. Stuff like that is what PHP was meant to be originally. This ultimate freeform salad of HTML and backend code interleaved together (and sometimes also with JS and bash scripts in between) is exactly the core idea of the language. Nowadays they moved from that and started doing fancy frameworks that separate concerns and do things just like Java. And to be fair, it defeats the whole point of PHP.

>>90037 I just don't know if it's worth my time, lainon. I just want you to know this soykaf is very insecure.... Hell, I saw one that makes a system call -- just because! >>90039 Maybe he means it in the 1860s to 1970s kind of way. Present Day, Present Time! AHAHAHAHAHA!

What makes this imageboard software interesting or different? Why are we resurrecting something that's abandoned if there is better more secure alternatives that exist ? What are we going to do with this software once we get it up and running? These are my questions I ask before I work on something
