Amusing moments in research

Anyone else sometimes screenshot memorable encounters while digging through mailing lists/etc? It's hard to say why this one has been especially funny for me, maybe the progression from a kind of endearing goofiness to insulting anger; that one stood out to me when I'd been toiling away on some obscure issue anyway.

>>89639 It's funny how he complains instead of sending a patch to fix the issue. I do screenshot mailing lists but not that often as i still don't know which mailing lists are worth getting into, any recommendations? So far i only check linux (kernel) and netbsd mailing lists One that i remember screenshotting was the mail of torvalds describing how rust was pretty bsd with its panic function when an exception was thrown

>>89639 I like to do this a lot. All my screenshots are on my work system not my personal devices sadly. If I remember I'll dig them up and post them here tomorrow

These poorly made issues/pull requests with broken English used to piss me off when I browsed 4chan but now it's just fuarrrking funny, maybe I'd go back to getting pissed off if I was a contributor to a project who got 100 pull requests a day talking about beautiful looks and "NEED MERGE ASAP!!!!!" though, lol.

>>89639 Google Groups making old Usenet archives globally searchable has made it pretty easy to look up mildly interesting stuff professors were posting back in the '90s. Haven't found anyone posting on alt.sex.stories yet, unfortunately :P.

I'm surprised that nobody has posted one of Raadts' posts, here's a recent one https://marc.info/?l=openbsd-advocacy&m=175977519419628&w=2
