Archlinux Nvidia settings and fix

Von Neumann · 2025-06-24 09:59
I've just installed Archlinux after quitting Windows 11, it was complicated at first but I started to enjoy the features and the programming. However, there's an issue with Nvidia that can't resolve it well. The screen freezes or starts to display error messages. I'm trying to fix it, but yet does not show to improve. It's supposed to support Nvidia Ampare GEFORCE RTX 3050 series. Does anyone can help me with the Nvidia problem?

What do you need Linux for?
Von Neumann · 2025-06-24 12:01
>>87246 For better liberties with programming, since Windows 11 and Microsoft haven't been softer on the restrictions with Powershell and Bitlocker over the past years.

Try adding nvidia.NVreg_PreserveVideoMemoryAllocations=0 to your kernel parameters.

>It's supposed to support It is supported and works well. Did you install the proprietary driver package? Did you do the suggested the kernel parameter config? What is your kernel command line? Is DRM enabled? cat /sys/module/nvidia_drm/parameters/modeset Wayland or Xorg? What DE? Everything up to date? Does it panic only on suspend? Try these: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Nvidia#Suspend_support >>87246 >>87249 These are astroturfers and maybe OP too. Yes, corporations pay some off-shore troll farm $20 to go to all the image boards to make Linux look bad.

>>87245 if you cannot fix it yourself, you should probably swap to a friendlier linux distro (i'll sh1ll mint)
