Does anyone know of a program I can edit PDFs with (on linux)? I tend to print my books, so I always end up having to pay more for stuff I won't read like blurbs, interviews, prefaces... etc. Basically, I only want to remove pages without having to rely on some shady ad-ridden website.(USER WAS WARNED FOR THIS POST, You should always elaborate on your opinions rather than just spilling the soykaf.)

If you want a GUI, xournalpp can remove pages from a document and export it to a new pdf. If you want CLI, poppler-utils' pdfseparate and pdfmerge allow to you to split a pdf into multiple single-page pdfs and merge them back together.

poppler-utils is inferior to qpdf and sometimes does some very weird things.

To shuffle around and actually edit pages, I usually use GIMP.

IIRC calibre can do this nicely

When I get a pdf with a lot of truly useless pages, like several blanks in a row, or pages that just basically self-advertise the book, I fire up pdfarranger. It shows the pages in a grid, fully legible and zoomable. You just find a page or range of pages you don't want, mark them and delete them. The gap is closed seamlessly. Then you save to disk and you have a new copy without the cruft. But one thing I really hate is when people remove the front matter, index, and worst of all, the table of contents. calibre's ebook-viewer is good because it handles so many formats... odf, djvu, epub, mobi, azw3, lit. The only format I use that it doesn't handle is chm, so i use kchmviewer for that. calibre is also good as a format converter. I don't care for epub format so I sometimes convert them to pdf. That's all I use calibre for.

>calibre is also good as a format converter i won't trust it until i see it being good at converting anything at least once in my life.

>>83723 Well, ok, I concede this point. I guess by "good" I meant "the only one I know of".
