What is the most promising metal 3d-printing technology that could fit these 2 requirements:
1) it should be small enough to stay on a desktop
2) its output should be easily reconverted into its raw materials (similar to how PLA prints can be turned into filaments with a recyclebot)

I dont even have a 3D printer and I know this
Method 1
Something like Virtual Foundry's Filamet or then into the kiln
Method 2
Similar to previous if not same if im not mistaken Bound Metal Deposition (BMD)
Method 3
Print in wax then do a casting
Method 4
Do a print in electro conductive filament or use carbon spray paint on it after then electro plating
