Phone Thread What phone do you use?(USER WAS WARNED FOR THIS POST, You should always elaborate on your opinions rather than just spilling the soykaf. What phone do you use ? Why do you want to know about people's phones ? We don't know you didn't elaborate .)

A rugged chinkphone i bought for very cheap on Aliexpress It has a 15000 mAh battery, which is very convenient and some other silly features like a small screen on the back that displays time Can't install an alternative OS sadly, i plan to buy a dumbphone sometime soon

get an old bell system telephone and use it with an ATA. the only thing you should have a phone for is for PSTN. if you need inet access mostwhere, there are special SIM card modems which you can set up with an SBC + a power supply. any dumb/feature/smart telephone will be loaded with crap. the phone system is all CALEA, SS7 is vulnerable as fuarrrk too, super easy to intercept & track. telco's are only really useful for their base stations. SMS/VoIP providers can also provide PSTN access from the internet. PSTN is soykaf, but everyone is connected.

used xperia xz2 I bought online for 20$ 2 years ago with lineageos installed I dont really understand why do people need those crazy fuarrrking specs in the recent smartphones, bought an xperia z3 compact so a 10 years old phone this year to play with and even on the stock rom everything was running very smoothly (I mostly use cherrygram, aliucord, conversations for xmpp, signal, newpipe, mull browser, foobar2k and maps which propably with some normal person closed source alternatives fullfills the needs of 90% of modern smartphone users) if the battery condition wasnt drained after the original owner Id use it as my daily phone since Its very small just as I like
Tank · 2024-08-12 02:13
>>79266 Great taste, I'm currently running the xz1 compact. It has what your looking size battery expandable storage 3.5mm jack, and you can find it relatively cheap online. The battery holds very well.

I hate google and the pixels are too big and lack physical features i want, but im stuck using a pixel because grapheneOS seems like the only decent way to use a smartphone in current year

Samsung M30 (3/32) & Samsung A03 (3/32). Both of them have a 64GB SD card in them
Jet Black · 2024-08-12 03:23
Graphene and ios. Want to try to use graphene for more and more, hoping to a decent desktop mode setup in the future.

I use a landline phone. I think there's an old cellphone around here somewhere but I haven't used it in years and it doesn't have a sim card. I don't miss it.
Case · 2024-08-13 05:56
I never could find the perfect phone. Smartphones are too big and dont fit right in my hand and often fall out of my pocket but feature phones are no good because I mainly text and do sometimes need to look something up online when in a store to get info on products. Would be nice if I could just design a phone and get it produced.
Batou · 2024-08-14 12:44
>>79259 Moto G60S. Not the best one. Kinda run like soykaf and its battery drains faster since I updated the Android version like a year ago but oh well, comfy enough.
Skylocke · 2024-08-15 13:50
Samsung Galaxy A71. I have a J something lying around that I have tried to no avail to install an alternative OS onto.
Bob Arctor · 2024-08-15 17:04
Pixel 6a with GrapheneOS. It'd be perfect if it had a 3.5mm jack and was smaller. Otherwise, it feels great not having a Google or Apple account.

>Calyx OS on a Pixel 3. It's cheap (relatively), full featured, and as privacy preserving as a phone can be. I can run applications that support E2E encrypted chat like sessions and Matrix. I can tether a more freedom preserving device like a laptop. I am exposed to architectural mal-features of the cellular network. I don't have to use SMS to communicate. >Dumb Phones I think an alternative approach might be to use a hotspot only and do all your computing/comms on a more trustable device. I have had a lot of trouble getting VOIP to work over cellular connections reliably.

>>79259 >What phone do you use? I use Nokia 3310 3G (2017). Serves me well so far and will probably serve me well for another few years - much longer than any modern smartphone gets official support.

I use a Moto G32 with LineageOS Best smartphone i could find <200€ >Good camera >3.5mm >dual-SIM >MicroSD slot >5000mAh battery >official LOS support I miss having an OLED and USB 3.0, but most of my file transfer is done wireless, so that is not a big problem I have a moto g72 lying around which has an OLED, but it doesn't have official LOS support, so it is pick your poison for me
Dox · 2024-08-20 18:06
Galaxy z flip 3. got used one for 150$ small, cute, fun, good old feelings, fits good with decoratives, battery is soykaf as hell, even i only use it for music player, but, it's cute.
Sipho Nkosi · 2024-08-20 19:18
some dirt cheap galaxy s5 on lineage. very practical and fits and my needs excellently. ideally i'd have no phone, but oh well :) it's nice to have a full featured version of open street maps with excellent gps support at least, works as well as those garmins for free
