So i'm forced to sell my laptop in order to get a somewhat more decent one for college (given i'll have to be slaving away on blender and other creative programs). It's a 17" Acer Aspire 5 A517-52-73R2 with intel core i7, and i've been offered a deal at about 400 bucks for it, question is, is it good enough? I know these kinds of laptops don't really sell back for much given their specs but i'd like to hear from some of you.
+ I've been ogling the ASUS TUF Gaming A15 FA507NV-LP066W and think it's probably the best i'll get with all i've saved up so far. All i really need is a good GPU in order to keep my rendering time under 8 damn hours.

Why would your college not let you render your projects on their machines? You don't need a laptop for rendering you want one for gaming.

I do 3D work on a hacked Chromebook and it barely takes any time at all
It'd probably take it 8 hours to render a video though

Try to get a one with RTX over GTX if you can. optix is the render engine for GTX and is a big boost deal.

I correct: optix is Exclusive for RTX and is the fastest wsy of render in blender actually. Optix is a raytracing engine.

In what way is the Chromebook "hacked"?

Chromebook might be more spyware than Windows 11. It's not 100% accurate assumption though.
