Is running the operating system as a live usb safe for usb health? The question is more specific to dos and don'ts in terms of keeping usb healthy while running linux on live usb like Tail OS(USER WAS WARNED FOR THIS POST, You should always elaborate on your opinions rather than just spilling the soykaf.)

i don't see why it would be harmful when the os is designed to not write information. tails isnt a truly live os though, disk writing is prevented by the operating system itself, without the os hooking to the motherboard's disk controllers in order to physically prevent writes.

Indeed it's mentioned that Tail OS designed like that in the official site (https://tails.net/about/index.en.html), my bad not read it carefully
So if I start a database service, the large db are stored in ram too? Wondering how it works technically
Thanks for the answer!

When my laptop's hdd crashed, I ran puppy Linux off a usb stick and it broke after not too long. Got a new one and it broke too. I didn't do work or even studies, just surfing around.

How portable does the setup need to be? If you're worried about USBs dying (pretty fair IME) then use an external SSD. USB-C (USB 3.0 versions) are obviously ideal but there are USB-A models to I'm sure.
Not only will it have good lifespan but it'll be much faster than cheap USB NAND drives.

USB drives are so frigging cheap and small buy three make identical copies and keep them all around.

it won't put too much strain on the drive as long as you disable the swap / page file

I had bad experiences with cheap USB devices. Use an external 2.5 HD , or even better SSD, they are hard to break falling and are blazing fast: I use one of 500GB , and move between pc's is great!
A good thing about use SSD's is you can use SEDUTILS and enable the OPAL mode, for access to the inner encryption without performance penalty.
