It becomes tiresome when everyone lives in a sort of contrived and demonstrably false, artificially narrowed, reality. Eventually you get this conditioned reflex where you know saying anything and going off script will just make them all start fighting with you or doing that weird judgement thing where they shy away and start trying to clump together more, if you haven't framed and lead into it with the correct ritual, and arcane incantations and invocations.
Yet at the same time it's all I know, I can't conceive of anything else. Not even sure what I would do or what it would be like if it were otherwise.

i feel this. its like each group of people have these unspoken shared goals. so everything you do socially has to align with these goals. doing normal things (normal for the group) is ok but going off the rails requires the arcane invocations to frame whatever it is as aligning with, and being positive to, the group's goals.
at work it was work, but it had to be done according to this unspoken aesthetic of 'were the absolute best at what we do, no one is better than us' therefore weakness of any kind must be excused according to the group... almost religion. anything less is an analogue of sin and gets you complained about to your boss to be counseled out if not fired.
i feel like there has to be some branch of philosophy or science that talks about this at length using generalized indirect terms. it might be group "culture".
