Modify/worsen camera and microphone

Junichi Fujiwara · 2024-01-23 11:32
How can I modify my image and audio and make it look like the problem is a bad connection or bad hardware? I don't want it to be obvious that it's being modified.(USER WAS WARNED FOR THIS POST, You should always elaborate on your opinions rather than just spilling the soykaf.)

sounds liek a diy problem cameras you can scratch the lenses, or if you want to keep them nice put some sheet of scratched/fogged glass or plastic over the lens. a similar thing will work for the microphone, damage the sheathing material, or replace /cover it with something worse. I expect anything will do, some cloth from an old pair of pants, tin foil, plastic wrap. Listen and see if you think its to your liking.

For the mic you can do the "funny mic". where everything blown out and bitcrushed. It's usually due to soykaf mic quality. people usually quote using the Logitech c920 and raising the gain in software but I imagine it's possible to emulate the sound with software. This next one is more of a theory than an actual solution, but If you know your way around pin layout (for usb devices at least. don't think it's possible with phone connectors) it could be possible to damage the pin responsible to deliver data in a way it still passes but packets get dropped and fuarrrks with the quality of the mic. You'll most likely cut in and out and sentences will be difficult to interpret.

You can probably do some funny soykaf with Virtual Audio Cable.

You could build a lag switch to simulate a poor connection. https://old.reddit.com/r/networking/comments/ttfvg0/simulating_network_latency_bandwidth_and_packet/ Mind you, you do not need a Raspberry Pi to do this, but any hardware with any Linux distribution that has iproute2 supported.

You could compress the feed or downscale the resolution maybe.

>>75346 Can't you record stuff in Audacity and then export it in a really low bitrate file? And then do it twice and it will sound even worse.

>>75420 I think he wants to do it during a live event. like a meeting or something. The audacity trick will defo work though.
