So I finally started studying for my A+ cert. I want to have an actual credential because Im getting tired of lying on my resume to get jobs. What Ive done so far is use yt-dl to download the captions dor professor messer's entire 220-1101 playlist, then run those captions through sed to remove any timecodes or whitespace, then I read those files and take notes in a spreadsheet with a tab for each exam objective. In the spreadsheet definitions are marked in green and things I need to clarify are marked in orange. I think to study I'll write a corresponding question for every note in another column and then use that to randomly generate practice tests, but that's phase 2 and Im still only 35% done taking notes on 220-1101

I don't have time to study at work anymore so now I'm downloading professor messer's 220-1101 playlist as audio files I can listen to while I'm doing other stuff.

COMPTIA Certs are worthless, but the exam prep material is great. I think the easiest proof of this is around the marketing which doesn't advertise to employers at finding skilled professionals, but which advertises to you in "leveling up" your career. These kinds of certs do not.
However, the materials are well organized, and a great start.
So IMO, take the studying more serious than the exam. Read several of the books. The exams are actually easy - being simply multiple choice.

I've been turned down for multiple jobs specifically because I do not have an A+ cert so I don't know what you mean by "worthless"
Also what certifications would you recommend instead?

Maybe your Job market is different than mine. I have observed employers really unworried about certifications, and more concerned about work experience.
What you will find soon enough is that A+ doesn't really make competent repair techs. Its essential baseline knowledge - but its really not enough. I worked several years at a PC repair shop, and If I was hiring, I would be looking for experience disassembling laptops, and knowledge of Windows. Vast majority of problems are software, but what isn't is changing laptop keyboards, &c.

This is actually a really difficult question. In part because its unclear what you actually want to do. If you want to work Desktop support you might want some Microsoft Certifications.
Also, Desktop support is like kicking dead whales down the beach. Its low end, there are plenty of people who can do it, and its becoming less interesting over time.

Good for you lain! As a rule, not all of the material is up to date or even relevant in the real world but it is going to be good for you being able to get hired. After you get the A+ be sure to finish the trifecta and get the Net+ and Sec+ after that so you make more than burger flippers at McCockles.
