Most important requirements: - it needs to come with an 1080p or higher IPS screen by default, or have an IPS screen replacement readily available in India. - it needs to be able to run Minecraft and Stardew Valley well. - it needs to be upgradable and not have planned obsolecense. - it needs to have coreboot or libreboot support. - it needs to be available in the UAE. - it shouldn't be thin, i like thick laptops Please help me, also it doesn't have to be a ThinkPad though I would prefer if it was.

I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about but maybe a System76 laptop. They come with coreboot and fully free software from the start. But theyre expensive. BTW the laptop that I use (not for gaming) is the ThinkPad L13 Yoga Gen 3. I can confirm it runs Minecraft and Stardew valley (and even more intensive games like Ready or Not) well as i've played them. I use Garuda Linux on it BTW

>>73834 i don't think that they support corebooting at all, but the ryzen lenovo ideapads are pretty good, i've had one for some years now w/3rd gen ryzen 5 and the temps, the performance, and the keyboard are amazing. the screen is 1080p ips matte. mine is also upgradable, it has 4GB soldered ram but it also comes with a free slot so i could slap 8GB more there. minecraft runs smoothly with void and a WM, at least that's how i play it

>>74753 can it play 7th gen and early 8th gen games well? asking because I got a T14 Gen 1 AMD

What you want is the macbook air. It will blow your mind.

>>74803 Yes, and yes. It can even play some 9th gen games like RE4 Remake using FSR performance at a 4:3 aspect ratio at lowest settings. The only 7th gen game that didnt run for me at a good framerate was Skyrim and Oblivion. Oblivion was playable, but Skyrim was running at an unstable 20fps. Also, it's pretty good for running Virtual Machines because of its 16 gigs of RAM and 12 core CPU.

IPS has trash viewing angles. OLED is the only good laptop screen (since CRTs dont fit)

>>74823 thanks. I'm not really interested in playing games on the lowest settings so I know I can't play post-2015 games. I just wanted to know if it could play games up to 2015 on at least 1080p medium. I have a PS4 Pro for post-2015 games anyway. I want to know how it fares with >Dark Souls 2 >Dark Souls 3 >GTA V >Witcher 3 on medium 1080p also. I don't have a steam account. do I HAVE to use steam to play games? if I pirate games, can I just install them normally using wine and play them? can I play everything on Linux? also I think you meant 12-thread CPU, and I'm getting it with 32GB.

Lenovo's IdeaPad Gaming series. Seriously, just try them out in a store. They are ubiquitous, built very well and have really good screens and keyboards. I honestly like its keyboard more than that of the ThinkPad T14 my company gave me.
