hello lains, ive long dreamt of hosting on the interwebz this one little php project thats been sitting on my harddrive, and ive decided i would like to finally take the plunge and get a domain name and hosting and make it all official. only thing is i dont really know what best practice would be for going about this. my list of concerns are as follows: 1. i live in a not very freindly towards free speech country and dont want to have to deal with user moderation/ speech policing or getting into trouble 2. given the nature of how my site works it doesnt need much storage, would self hosting be a feesable option ? 3. im bad at php and might get hacked eventually- how to mitigate this desu ? 2. how do i make money from this without googlesatanlizardbillgates ads ? 4. also just out of interest how was this done in the 90s and 2000s when the web was peak comfy? was it harder or ezeir >?>?>?? thank you for being present to witness this thread

https://www.nearlyfreespeech.net/services/pricing How not very friendly? Domains from Namecheap and various other places will come with free whois privacy by default. Is your country in 5 eyes / 13 eyes? Are they not-very-friendly enough to launch a whole investigation just to find out who owns a certain domain and is talking soykaf online? Using prepared statements doesn't guarantee that you'll never have a SQLi vuln, but not using prepared statements guarantees that you will It used to be more of a pain in the ass, the upside at this point is that you don't have to do the majority of the overwrought soykaf you see on websites these days

>>73484 If you have a little spare money each month, name cheap and vultr are great. I also use cloudflare for some soykaf even though people argue it's Soykaf.
