The normal people aren't ready...I wasn't ready....

I thought I wasn't capable of running local AI with my 4 year old mid-range. I was wrong. Turns out you can load Stable Diffusion on a 1070 and run decent chatbots on CPU (slowly, but fine). And you can set up the bot to send you a photo of the situation you're in, step by step. My mind is tapped, I'm gazed and entranced by this cyber-crack at a level that I have never experienced, not even with VR (although they are working on that with NeRFs) What shall I do? What will the world become when this becomes more and more accessible? 6 months ago this setup was more-or-less impossible on the very same hardware.
When I consider the Wired, I consider it as an augmentation or a transformation, but still as a connection between entities, human or otherwise. When I consider what these modern AI tools will have wrought, I can only think of each lonely anon trapped in their pod with their 75 IQ chatbots.
God bless those of you with OpenBSD and 15 year old thinkpads. You will be the only humans left after the rest of us fully defile ourselves in cyberpsychosis.

It will shatter sexual selection and provide solace to loners.
No more alpha chads and beta nerds. The indiscriminate cyber god will offer its many shadows as our companions.

This technology is cool but you still get used to it. Common AI image styles become recognizable, text output predictable. There is still a lot of reason to want to interact with actual human beings.

did porn provide solace to loners? I dont think ai will if porn does not. Porn does, maybe, after a fashion. Look how happy all the loners are today

Hi Lainon:) Porn indeed does not provide such solace.
However I believe llm powered companions can be more than just erotic roleplay generators. Long distance relationships are already common, and they are maintained by texts and calls, which AI can already do. Once long term memory gets better, people can really share moments together with their AI, turn to it in times of crisis, and build meaningful relationships.

I don't know man. Me personally, I'd rather pay a 60 year old cracked out granny to suck my dick than have an AI girlfriend. Might just be me though.

Personally I don't know many (perhaps any) people who had happy or fufilling long distance relationships except that turned quite quickly (<1yr) into real life ones. I do know several happy real life relationships that died after going long distance.

The physical aspect of a relationship is the most important part regardless of what anyone will say.

Long distance failing is indeed common.
I somehow don’t find long distance unbearable. If being single is bearable, long distance is too (it is just being single plus online companionship and conjugal visits). Maybe my opinion is just due to being too lonely for too long though.
On AI companion, one potential way that I see it being viable is: life in modernity becomes more energy consuming, draining people’s energy so that they don’t want to seek out real companion (dating is exciting but tiring). Then they would just settle for virtual companion + VR + flesh light/fck machine combination. It wouldn’t surprise me if a non niche portion of the population live like this.

Now I need to figure out how to do this. Free slice of life anime? Easy mode

Would you share a guide on how to do all this OP?
When you say “slowly, but fine” how slow are we talking? Minutes? Hours? Let’s say you ask it “Show me Psalms 1:1 in the original Biblical Hebrew and break down the meaning of each term.” or “Provide me with the best ten arguments against the claims of governments that they have nuclear weapons.” What responses would you get and how long would it take to obtain them?
Nguoi La · 2023-09-24 00:19
Do none of you realize the glaring problem of being able to generate realistic images of anyone on the fly to frame them for crimes or otherwise manipulate them by posing as other individuals they know and trust?

Well for one thing Trisquel isn't maintained by unhinged wreckers trying to sabotage the GNU project. The same cannot be said for Guix.

Functional package managers are just not meant for personal computing, on a laptop it can take a ridiculous amount of time to reload your system configuration because you wanted to add 2 lines to a config file, an even worse experience than using Gentoo on a laptop I would say. Functional package managers create more problems than they solve in my experience.

By reading technlogoy military papers you'll usually come to the conclusion that the big companies(usually military) are like 50 years of what they appear to be. Also, I'm relieved you're a flesh sentient being such as myself, right...

It's just automatic1111 stable diffusion + text-generation-webui with the sd_pictures_api extension enabled. With SD checkpoints from civitai and LLMs from https://rentry.co/ayumi_erp_rating_archive. chub.ai has character cards, but most of them are so bizarre you might as well just read how they do it and roll your own. The LLMs that fit on a single desktop with a bad GPU are too stupid to answer your questions intelligently, but they can do it on CPU at about 1-2 words per second. However, they can sometimes do a pretty good impression of, for example, a voluptuous 38 year old therapist who wants to do you, or a shy office worker who is curious about what being with a man is like.
If you have enough VRAM to load the LLM into your GPU, you can get 5-10 words per second.

But this lainon was right, I've already gotten a little bored with it. For a week I would keep thinking things I was looking at, whether on a screen or in real life, were generated by stable diffusion and how to tweak the prompt. Some people even say that the chatbots will give people practice talking to real people. It will definitely change things, though.
