Coping with being obesed with technology

remmy · 2023-09-09 05:43
Since I was a child I've known about technology and not much else due to being autistic and not really knowing or caring about other people. I've Isolated from people for over a decade and a half now only really talking to them when required to eg work etc and I feel i've grown to hate people and like technology more people are complicated and horrible things that are too unstable and do so much damage to the world while technology much like me does what its told or forced to do by society I feel a strong connection to computers and technology to a point where i don't have any other personality traits other than autistic, technology wiz and "gifted" , this last trait "gifted" is probobly the worst one of them all since due to my extreme use of technology my parents think i'm like the next steve woz and i'm going to "change the world" and make them rich and to be frank I don't know how to do that I'm not a genius and i'm not smart and i never claimed to be just that people asign me to be better than average at using technology, yet i'm getting more and more pressure from my parents to pick a career in tech but every time i study a subject of tech it ruins that subject a good example is art i've grown to HATE digital art recently it feels like the worst thing ever and yet because we've paid to do a course on it i MUST do it and be good at it and use it to profit even though i now hate it due to being forced to turn it into a task for money, the only way i can do said subject now is by the use of substances such as alcohol and ritilan among other things this is slowly turning into the only way i can live. I am reminded of ted kaczynski. I've known i'm depressed for years and years my parents never believe me because "you can't be depressed for no reason" and truth be told I believe that while also not knowing what's wrong with me specifically I feel an increasing dislike for technology nowadays despite using it all the time i tried to learn c from a book so i can code properly instead of knowing bits of a few langs(basics of lua and c and etc), can't even read it without wanting to K myself it seems technology has become the bane of my existence while also being the one thing i know and the one thing people tie to me and so due to this tie to me and my inability to like anything else let alone technology anymore its the only thing i can have so i feel I must fulfill my expectation and become rich from programing or making some kind of new tech but i just can't bring myself to do it but there is no other option there's no "oh well you can just-" NO I NEED TO DO THIS THERES NO OTHER OPTION FULL STOP i either do this or i die and death is a hell of a lot harder or i could be put in a mental ward i've been wanting to try removing my face with a box cutter while high on drugs to stop the pain anyway enjoy my little box of crap or whatever hopefully this was an interesting read into the insanity that is being the 'gifted' autistic person

the fuarrrk you mean you love technology if you can't be bothered to understand it in any way beyond superficial media consumption or fixing a fuarrrking printer, that's like a kid saying they love boxing because they watched hajime no ippo but never actually training be honest and stop bullshitting yourself and you might find a way to talk with your parents openly about how you feel, you're not insane, you're just a teenager, everyone goes through it. Also being autistic is not such a big deal, i would bet my tasty, hydrated, tight asshole that over half of this website is giga autistic. Stop using it as a weapon to justify your inability to provide for yourself.

>>72635 Who the hell cares what your parents think? For gods sake, you are an adult. I am in technology and I don't code either. You don't HAVE to be a programmer, and you don't even have to be in tech. Go do fuarrrking sales or construction or something. It's just insane to me the total lack of perspective people have. If you don't like something, don't do it. Do you think it will change by slumping into alcoholism? Are you stupid? You must be. Your parents can be mad at you all they want, or disappointed. It's not that big of a deal. They'll get over it.

you strike me more as the kind of autist you dont want to be, the kind that is on the wrong side of the cognitive end if you catch my drift.

stop being a pessimist dipshit, your unnatural hatred for people comes from your unnatural obsession with unnatural objects. go fuarrrking outside, dude, god damn. and your obession with technology makes you more than blind to the fact that a whole lot of exploitation and colonization was necessary to bring you that shiny device that's right in front of you, but that's a different discussion. like the people here already said, you're an adult, so free yourself from your parents ASAP. you know what you want for yourself, and if you don't, being glued to your parents -- people that know nothing about you, apparently -- won't help you in any way. but you know that already. >NO I NEED TO DO THIS THERES NO OTHER OPTION FULL STOP you clearly don't like it, yet there's no other option? in what soykafhole do you live where your only option is to be in IT? develop some accountability, dude, seriously. you're responsible for your own life, and you don't seem to know that yet. >hopefully this was an interesting read into the insanity that is being the 'gifted' autistic person i don't care if you're autistic, stop weaponizing your diagnosis. you are who you are, and "autism" is not 100% of you. >I am reminded of ted kaczynski what about him? he's the worst person to describe the bad aspects of technology, and i hate that he gets all of the attention when that's brought up. look up "green anarchy." also, i'm ignoring the possibility you just being depressed because of the soykaf environment that you live. but again, you put your hatred into people, technology, your autism, but don't want to actually tackle the problem. sigh.

>>72642 That's really mean, OP is just a sad teenager.
The Oracle · 2023-09-10 03:50
>>72648 both his parents are breathing, they never tried to kill him, he has a home, a stable home i presume, lives in his home country, hasn't been homeless, etc, he will have to learn to not be a little bitch
Armitage · 2023-09-10 09:38
>>72666 stop comparing suffering. OP might have it better than some people, but that doesn't invalidates his struggles. you're not helping anybody.
Lunch · 2023-09-10 09:45
>>72668 not the same person but i think they're correct. It's not invalidation of their struggles, just perspective. "What you are going through is normal and everyone goes through it" is incredibly helpful advice. Pretending like it's more unique or serious than it is can leave you feeling helpless when you should just carry your own weight like everybody else does.

>>72666 You can have the greatest parents ever, or you can have parents trying to kill you. But when you are a teenager, the despair and hardship in both cases is comparable. It is just fuarrrking awful to be a teenager. It is actually so bad I don't know if I want to have children because I'd need to put my children through this. The only winning move is to somehow survive teenage years by clinging to some neurosis that will be useful later. For example, you are hitting bottom of despair but have computers as your outlet... if computers help you survive these years, and you spend a lot of time with computers, then you hit age of young adult around 24 and you are at least set financially/you have your social standing in a good place. You come out stable then and with skills. It is not so bad... most teenagers nowadays touch drugs and it pretty much fuarrrks them for the end of their lives

>>72635 This thread is four months old, I hope you're reading this. You need a communiity and you need to be exposed to highbrow information sources. That's pretty much it. I was in a similar position when I was 14, and then I found people that were similar to me a few years later. I was reading heavily in the meantime. I have aspergers. Aspergers =/= Autism, I am perfectly healthy and don't have any diseases or complexes or anything else.
