Using keyboard phones in 2013+10

Hello Lain, I have a Blackberry Key2 which was handed down to me. I'm considering using it as my daily driver, to replace my aging Nokia. The thing is, the Key2 itself is a 5 year old device. I'm not sure how adequate it would be for daily use. Having a keyboard phone would be a funny conversation starter, but that's not really a good reason to use it. So I was wondering if anyone here had any cool ideas for stuff that could be done with a physical keyboard phone. For example, using it as a control panel for a micro-controller project (I have no idea if that would work). Or running Windows on ARM. Anything that utilizes the keyboard. Suggest some cool ideas. Go wild.

>>72451 I use a Unihertz Titan, which is still fairly well supported by Unihertz. It's a chinese company that violates GPL by not poasting source code and lineage for it is still an in-dev hackish thing, so I use the stock ROM. I really like it for the terminal, that is, both the keyboard and the wide aspect ratio. Being able to readily reply to an email on my phone, SSH into some box, all while I'm doing my grocery shopping on the go, pretty nice. I can even circumvent using horrid mobile "software" with Nixdroid, it just downloads the same exact software I have set up on my NixOS desktop to termux, like my rss feed reader.

>>72453 Nice, I don't think the Key2 can be modded. The Blackberry community, and PKB users in general seem to have given up on the entire idea of keyboard phones. There was an attempted revival in 2021 by a Texan company which shut down after 6 months.

>s a 5 year old device. I'm not sure how adequate it would be for daily use. My phone is twice as old as that. Why would it not be adequate for daily use?

>>72453 I use a Titan Pocket that has been rooted with a custom ROM it's best phone I've used since the Bold 9700 back in high-school

Is there a list of programs I should uninstall from the Titan Pocket via ADB? I don't think I'm smart enough to get a custom ROM working on the thing (I know it's possible, but still). Don't really trust a Chinese device. Also when was its last security update? and just for fun, here's my attempt at making my Motorola look like a BlackBerry.

>>72451 I would probably use something like this or fxtec since I phonepost a lot. Otherwise, I don't really need my phone having a keyboard other than typing stuff like messages etc.

>>72451 As >>72477 says, what's wrong with using old devices? I've had the same physical keyboard phone since 2015. Posted from my blackberry keyONE
