Hurricane Electric is censoring the Internet (Update Aug-8
nullroute · 2023-08-09 00:21
DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT NULL/JOSH.
The AGO has confirmed it has received complaints from Incognet and Crunchbits and that the complaints fall under the scope of their office. I am filing mine this week.
Residents of Washington may be needed soon.
Edit 1: Small update but when we tried to route another /48 off my subnet it was also blocked immediately. In short, this means the company is actively hawking my subnets and terminating them as soon as they go up to deliberately deprive Washington residents of Internet access to websites of their choice.
Edit 2: Actually, they blocked my /32, which means Hurricane Electric is blocking 65,536 network blocks containing 65,536 subscriber blocks each with each subscriber block containing 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 possible addresses. With this number, I could assign each gram of the Earth's total mass 74 IP addresses each. They have done this specifically to accomplish keeping Washington residents off the Kiwi Farms.

This is largely due to legal and extralegal influence from Liz Fong-Jones / Elliot William Fong and persons associated with him.
For the benefit of anyone who doesn't understand Internet routing: an ISP deciding to block an entire subnet is akin to the President deciding to barricade all roads leading to a neighborhood because of an individual in a single house.
Without a court order, or even a statement of laws broken. Just because some suit in an office said so

I'm rooting for him.

I think it clearly has more to do with the CIA agent who fathered the girl who tried to have Chris Chan kill himself. That CIA agent also had connections with Cloudflare, coincidentally, like being on the board.

I'd bat an eye if it weren't for one thing.
2017 was the last year the average Joe gave a soykaf about digital rights. That's when Trump's FCC set out to abolish net neutrality.
Overnight, all right-wingers shat on net neutrality. They claimed it was because it "stifles competition." Of course, that's not the reason ISPs have such low competition, but that's besides the point. In reality, it was to spite Democrats who wanted to save it.
After its abolition, they boasted for years because no dystopian censorship was happening. Now, it's happening. They're the victims. And how do they react? They paint themselves as martyrs of corporate sharks.
Can't say they didn't get exactly what they asked for.

Its not about political sides. Jesus Christ. You really think it started in 2017? Right wingers this, right wingers that. You are just looking for someone to blame.

You've bought into the CIA's partisan propaganda and it's lead to the desired result: you are now complacent with a tyrannical government.

Great point. I still remember how net neutrality was a completely non-partisan, mass-supported issue for years and then suddenly a bunch of authority-worshiping dopes allowed the parties to turn it into yet another bullshit wedge issues because daddy Trump went after it in service of his telecom donors.

It’s not about political sides and shouldn’t be I agree. But the poster you’re responding to is describing what happened accurately. Democrat politicians have attacked net neutrality too in the past but if the people in 2017 had been consistent in fighting to save it like they had been in years past this wouldn’t be happening today.
Kiwifarms still on tor these days? I’ve missed visiting the site on occasion, but admit I haven’t more than once since it dropped of clearnet.

In my heart of hearts, I wish it wasn't. I leaned right not that long ago. I have a vested interest to try to find ways to nuance this, but I can't. Turns out the second half of the 2010s did boil down to "right wingers ruin everything for everyone out of spite." And one of the many things they ruined was net neutrality. At this point, it takes a lot of bad faith to deny it.

First, a private company did it, not the government. Second, stop blaming everything on the CIA. You sound like a 17-year-old Terry Davis simp from 2018. The CIA hasn't been forcing partisan propaganda on everyone for almost 10 years. They're busy enough spying on Putin's crack whores as it is.
It's easy to see who makes everything about partisan culture war bullshit. It's not the CIA. It's easy to see who decided memes should all be "what I don't like vs what I like." It's not the CIA. It's easy to see who wanted to empower ISPs to censor everything. It's not the CIA. People who want you to think it's the CIA are the problem.

They hate this poster, because he said the truth.
right wing wanted to hand everything to corpo's because "government bad" without realizing that corpo's have the most reason to censor, for profit. Right-wing can get any bullshit awful law passed by saying the left support it. The average brainworm libertarian corpo soyjak eats it up without understanding the big picture of what will happen. At least you owned the libs right?
truth be told, isp censorship has been legal since ajit pai, and is going to get worse with kosa, 2 -4 years time you will need a ID to post.

Explain how. Manipulation isn't just disagreement you know... It appeals to psychological tricks.

>Explain how. Manipulation isn't just disagreement you know... It appeals to psychological tricks.
Repetition of phrases, conflating two different kinds of statements, being overly particular and overly vague selectively, purposeful black and white thinking when it is convenient, and employing any number of red herrings... these are all quite obvious examples. For instance, when they repeat, "It is not the CIA." or, "It's easy to see..."They employ "right winger" as a catch all term that can be both or either Republican voters or the GOP establishment, but they never illuminate or make this clear because it allows them to, for instance, blame x event on "right wingers" as a means of indicting one group when it was really the other. Bringing up putin is completely unrelated and is meant to make the idea of the intelligence community's involvement in domestic affairs appear silly despite the overwhelming evidence of the CIA/FBI being involved in prior "culture wars" (the FBI was literally created in part to go after labor organizers). They say things like, "It's not the government, it was a private corporation." This is black and white thinking and is totally botched. For one, the political structure of the US is such that the bourgeois financial elite and the government are more or less coextensive. Saying that it was "just a private corporation" or something along those lines is their own self serving way of trying to deny this reality because it is more convenient to their narrative. They also make bold statements they can't actually substantiate and then claim you are acting in bad faith if you contest them. But we all do things like this. I do things like this. What is as important as the what is the why. They are propagandizing CIA narratives, whether that is intentional or not. Whats more is that they are trying to divide people along muddled political lines in regards to a topic which is clearly much deeper. Not to mention that they are obnoxious.

It sure is funny how the websites hosting child pornography that are routinely posted here and on other imageboards by automated processes are still allowed and don't receive this harsh treatment. Is that website selling estrogen to minors still up?

Wish I'd had ordered estrogen online when I was a minor.
