How do you prevent your mail server from getting automatically flagged as spam by google, microsoft and the other email providers?
The Oracle · 2022-10-22 23:30
you don't. most of them flag it so you're forced to go mainstream and (hopefully) use their platform by doing so.

>>64640 seconding this hosting your own email server only makes any sense if you exclusively message other freetards

It takes quite the effort, but it's doable. First of all, your IP should not be on any major blacklist. If it is, consider changing it or apply for removal. That would take quite some time for the service to unlist you and the email providers to get the updates. Host net IPs are usually ok, residential are considered slightly suspicious. Second, you have to have your mail server, especially your SPF/DKIM/DMARC, set up correctly. Again, use some resources to test it all and check, that you look reasonable for the outside world. Third, try it. Press "not spam" on your own email on target providers' mailboxes. It would take time. You might want contact abuse teams for fixes, but some of the biggest like outlook don't even give you the ability to complain. Do not expect it to be smooth and fast, don't do stupid stuff like sending a lot at once.
