Is Ubunchu fully translated into English? Can't find it on nyaa or qbittorrent's search engine. The two links on wikipedia aren't complete either.

can anyone give me a basic rundown of this thing's plot? i don't know how you could make a whole manga series based solely around ubuntu and linux...

>>60867 It's just that the blonde is a Mac user who wants to learn about Linux but in an easy way, that's why she's obsessed with Ubuntu, the guy is a GAMER so he only uses Windows and the girl with the ponytail is a sysadmin. The thing with this is how rare it is and the art isn't bad, it looks pretty professional.

>>60867 Its mostly just a slice of life, no real underlying plot.The premise starts off with 3 characters in the high school sysadmin club - Masato, the slightly smug and gamer windows user - Risa, the bubbly and friendly mac OS user, and - Akane, the staunch free software, terminal using, unixy linux user Masato and Akane frequently clash over which system is better, windows or linux, and Risa suggests they try installing and using Ubuntu together as sort of a compromise between the three systems. From their its what you would expect in a slice of life, but revolving around linuxy and ubuntu stuff, things like upgrading the system, using the command line, talking about foss licenses, visiting the forums, etc.

I had a go at cleaning and typesetting the first page of chapter 12 using the translation from https://gitlab.com/sirtetris/ubunchu-translation/blob/master/chapter12.mtl Not a professional, but I think it turned out pretty ok. Not sure how much long my motivation to keep it going will last though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm back Lainons. Posting every page by itself felt spammy, so I decided to wait until chapter 12 is done. For now I've uploaded the PDF here and to Github (I plan on uploading the XCFs as well). https://github.com/publicdesert/ubunchu_english I'll probably try to get in touch with Tarek, the guy who translated and edited chapters 09 to 11, so that maybe we can have the translations scattered across 2 locations instead of 3.

The fonts I used are called Architects Daughter and Lemon Milk. If you also decide to use Gimp. Make sure to change resolution while importing. Gimp selects a resolution of 100ppi by default which gives you a resolution of 830x1090 per page. The originals are at 1246x1635/150ppi I think. Unfortunately I noticed this to late which is why my edit looks kind of bad. I'm looking for a solution to that right now. I may be able to merge the original and my edit into one file.

>>61026 >are you leaving most of the text outside the speech bubbles untranslated? im doing anything with a plain white background first, since those are easiest to replace. after that, going to replace the text on any backgrounds that can be perfectly reconstructed like some of the grey dot backgrounds. and once those are done finally attempt any text with complex backgrounds, but settle on overlay text elsewhere on the page if its not feasible.

>>61041 i see, keep up the good work! btw i really wasn't happy with the way 12 turned out once i realized how badly i screwed up the resolution so i decided to redo it completely before starting on 13. got 1-8 cleaned up so far, typesetting yet to come. this time i did some research on cleaning and i think it looks a lot better so far. i'll attach some examples. i also experimented with the resolution. i had imported the pdf at 100ppi on my first attempt which looks terrible. while 150ppi does already look way better, going up to 300 definitely added more detail which is weird considering that the previous chapters are all at 1246x1635. sorry for giving you wrong leads about the resolution. :/
