goldendict for openbsd

Can goldendict be built on openbsd? When I make the switch from linux, it's the only program unavailable. Or is there any dictionary program that supports mdx format dictionary already in its repo?

>>60240 check the repo OP. i did a quick scan, from what i can tell you can probably build it on openbsd based on: >most complex dependency is Qt >it builds on freebsd >if it fails to build and no patches, you might be able to linuxify. no wine on openbsd afaik, so no chance of using the windows build as a side note, if your going to switch from linux to openbsd for security reasons, then this is a foolish move, people often misinterpret openbsd's security model and place themselves in a less secure place than on linux. also the security tools and hardening options on linux tend to be much better than openbsd. but if your going to switch because you want a polished, well documented unix system, then welcome aboard! the man pages on openbsd are fantastic and the system comes with some useful utilities out of the box

>>60245 I checked here, so I can only build it myself. https://openports.se/ I'll just spawn a vm and see how it goes. >but if your going to switch because you want a polished, well documented unix system, then welcome aboard! the man pages on openbsd are fantastic and the system comes with some useful utilities out of the box yeah that's why I wanna use it.

>>60245 >as a side note, if your going to switch from linux to openbsd for security reasons, then this is a foolish move, people often misinterpret openbsd's security model and place themselves in a less secure place than on linux I moved all my machines to openbsd 5 years ago for this exact reason, and I can't even tell what their security model is supposed to be. I just trusted their track record. But after working with it for a long time in actual server/networking situations, I found that >but if your going to switch because you want a polished, well documented unix system is very true. I treat OpenBSD like a product rather than an operating system that I need to root around in and work on myself, because all the tools are actively developed by a single team (unlike windows and most linux applications having a smattering of tools that do somewhat the same job but make things more difficult in the long run) As for building goldendict, just try it and see what needs to be changed along the building process. That's how I "port" things
