Greetings lainons,
I was hoping to find some solutions in regards to an iPhone file transfer. The end goal is to transfer mp3 files from my (Windows) PC onto the Apple music application on an iPhone [w/o using iTunes!!]. I have done some research but can seem to find any (free) feasible solutions. I have found a subscription based program called WALTR2 which is able to transfer PC mp3 files onto the apple music app but I need something free. Are there possibly any GitHub programs you may have come across that offer a free solution to this problem? Surely this problem can't be all that difficult to circumvent. All input is appreciated, thanks.

You can use Jami (FOSS) to move files from your PC to your iPhone (I've tested this; works great). You can then play those files in your Files app or in VLC (I haven't tested VLC, but it should work fine).
The only way to get music into Apple's Music app in particular is through iTunes or Finder; sorry.

Thanks for the advice, Lainon :) Is it a pain to play the mp3 file(s) via the Files application? Is it possible to shuffle music within the app?

this is a question that would have been perfect for the tech general thread
and to be honest, it's so sad to see this. you have two computers that refuse to talk to each other. your best bet is to honestly throw away the iphone
sorry for not being constructive, but fuarrrk iphones

It is not a pain to play media in the Files app, so it'd be fine for movies, but you can't shuffle or create playlists or do other things you'd expect from a music player.
Also looks like VLC has its own WiFi transfer built in, so skip Jami.

The best place to ask questions that could apply to a lot of users is wherever anyone with the same question will be able to find it through a web search. So Reddit I guess? And forums / stack exchange / apple community if you like talking to pricks

there is the foobar2000 app for ios, which creates a folder in the Files app, You can move your mp3s to that folder and play it through foobar2000, complete with making playlists and shuffling.
