Lasers are great for fixing cameras, it burns out the ccd chip receptors, i wish more people would just go around and fix optical sensors of all kinds. How strong does a laser have to be to do proper damage? I have a small 3A one, its prolly not that much but it sure as hell packs more than one of those office pen pointers. Anyone here also fuarrrked with lenses and the likes?
Lunch · 2021-10-10 22:11
>>51900 Bare minimum is about 300-500mw (with a 0.1 midran beam) Although typically it will be anywhere from 1-1000000watts depending on type.
Mitnick · 2021-10-10 23:38
>>51859 This is the only thing that does more damage to living things than to technology. Few pixels burnt vs both "pixels" and lens irreparably damaged on the eye. You can bring some bricks and yield a better result in removing surveillance. When someone points laser at you from far away, it's disorienting and dangerous. When someone has a brick in their hand, you have a chance to move away, but cameras don't, and that's a good evaluation.

Imagine having a weapon that can be defeated by reflective surfacss and laser safety glasses while letting people know where to shoot back at because it exposes your exact location which also shows up on camera to track you down later. Lasers only make sense for use against technology not people. All it would do is make you and anyone you are associated with look like an asshole to try to permanently blind someone. As I've said before if all you want is to momentarily blind and disorient someone ordinary bright strobing lights do that.

Interaction of high-power lasers and mirrors is more complicated than "duh, it reflects always". Especially if you pulse them.
