Aloha,
I bought an NEC 1U server with 72GB ram and dual E5-2630 V2s and I STILL can't edit 4K. This exact server

I'm using Sony Catalyst Browse for color correction - which stutters out on 4K but fine for 1080p - but I can't even RUN Sony Catalyst Edit because of an open GL/ CL library missing. Apparently they just sort of come with your integrated graphics or GPU so they can't be installed properly, but even the emulator doesn't work for me.
Should I install new CPUs with on-board graphics or install a GPU? I kept reading that video editing (no effects - just cutting and rendering) was mostly CPU and ram dependent but now I'm totally lost as to where I'm supposed to go after this
Thank you for your time

You bought a server Lainon, not a computer made for editing videos.

Video editing needs video editing workstation hardware, not webserver hardware. Server components are designed to deal with a large amount of concurrent but low impact requests. The entire configuration is going to be crap for editing video and proper server renderfarms tend to use specialised video editing tech, not bog standard webserver chips.

What under the SUN made you think you would be able to edit 4k on that by just buying it? If it has zilions of cores you need software that makes use of them. If your soft expects GPU acceleration for GL/CL to edit stuff - then no idea what have you been expecting.
