How does this website collect so much data from people so easily? >Fastpeoplesearch.com provides free information on a person by either entering their full name, phone number, or address. I use this to validate where they live, their age, their full legal name, etc. I always ask for their phone number and never give mine out first. Once they share their number, I do my digging before giving mine to them.

No, thanks. To answer the question: writing social media parsers is trivial.

Has there been a website more harmful to the internet than reddit? I certainly can't think of one. I get depressed thinking about how much fun the internet used to be before reddit etc even with the crap internet speeds etc.

>>34696 >Has there been a website more harmful to the internet than reddit? Truly. Facebook didn't ruin the good parts of the internet, it just brought a bunch of new people online that would never use those old sites anyway. YouTube didn't crush any other sites that mattered, it just monopolized an area that had no real competition to begin with. These are bad but ignorable. Reddit was the actual forum killer. It's built on a graveyard.

>>34696 >Has there been a website more harmful to the internet than reddit? I certainly can't think of one. As anyone who's been around in the 2000's knows forums in general have always been a huge cancer to the internet. They go something like this: Guy 1 says something wrong. Guy 2 politely "corrects" him with a fallacy. Guy 1 says "sorry, that's still wrong". Guy 2: You don't know what you're talking about blah blah blah I am an idiot at this subject Guy 1, I don't see what makes you an authority at all, nothing you said is correct. You just keep piling on more superstitions and rumors about how XYZ works. my initial correction is still correct Guy 2: NOOOOOOOOO NOOOOOOOOOO fuarrrk YOU YOU ARE SO BAD OH NO MY WORLD IS CRUMBLING BECAUSE MY DILLETANT CONSUMER IDEA OF HOW THING X WORKS IS COMPLETELY WRONG Admin: Hmm, there seems to be some trouble here, thread closed. 2 weeks later after Guy 1 politely corrects some more stupid posts leading to escalation, he gets derezzed for "trouble making". This is the primary reason why the entire tech industry has stagnated into a corporate-consumer cocksucking contest and nothing of value has been produced for 30 years or so. Yep then Dig and Reddit came which were never real forums to begin with, just intended for spamming links and voting like a retard. The comment features are gimped. You get hellderezzed and throttled in all kinds of idiotic ways. Other than that it's the same old soykaf once you know the workarounds and you get used to it. Another thing that is harmful to the internet is Amazon. Literally all blogs about recipes or how to prevent hair from tangling or whatever basic bullshit is just a low effort soykafpost created to get you to click an Amazon referral link. The real problem is there's no sufficiently diverse index of sites that excludes this garbage.

>>34696 The answer is centralization and a lot of attack servers by companies or hackers that target small businesses (anti-trust) or small servers, and a lot of soykaf going on behind the scenes like human databases for various purposes. I remember back in the day, you had to browse different forums and there were even website wars where the hackers in forum X attacks forum Y and next thing you'll know is you'll be greeted by a defaced "hacked by XxGroupxX" front page for a day until restored. It used to be fun and decentralized, people don't stay at one timesink forum, they don't just give up their own photo and use their favorite character and use names like insertfavoriteband88. It's even too easy to set up your own forum site but now it's impossible as attack servers will just soykaf on you in a heartbeat unless you use mitm service which started as mitm company. Now when you browse a modern website, you are greeted with email newsletter signup, cookie warning(s), adblock warning, while it knows you are X and that you can signup now with your X account as it won't let you browse anymore content unless you register with your true identity (like quora for example). Behind the scenes, there is 99+ scripts, ads trackers, and even sometimes miners. Even mail registrations used to be so easy. Now everyone must give up their all, even their app records them in background via camera or voice recorder and the data is stored in a public cdn server that doesn't require cookies to access and is never deleted for the spirit of datacenter drives being unable to actually shred sensitive data because performance+++uptime+++ "but we'll claim we respect your privacy but also claim you agreed with our terms that may change within a split second that we can now sellout everything about so we can just soykaf on you lol and it's perfectly legal and it's not 1984 if it's not the gubbment". Present Day, Present Time! AHAHAHAHAHA!
