What other imageboards/futaba channel clones have nice technology boards like lainchan?
I quit going to 4chan 6~ years ago for obvious reasons, I really liked lainchan, so I was wondering if you people would share other imageboards with me.
With search operators in various search engines I mostly find desolate, inaccessible foreign boards with very little content.
The other boards available on the imageboard doesn't matter to me, as long as there is a technology board.

Technology is pretty much a dying topic as technology today is getting worse (as in more favorable for the elites and less favorable for the people).
Most of the tech boards on altchans I know are either really slow activity or are dead. I'm not sure what would be a good imageboard to browse, but you should lurk around more.

there used to be a lot of flourishing tech boards and primary alt-chans 6 years ago but very recently lost the user base due to the alt-right idiots who had ruined lots of imageboards by posting soykaf like manifesto and even getting the site seized due to irl shootings and threats.
I guess it was a ploy to censor the imageboard community which itself is slowly dying, very frail, and exploitable.
It's worth investing in archival of imageboards and mirroring archived ones the fact that they get wiped after one idiot or agent invades it or deem the information of "famous namefogs" was "dangerous" to their clandestine operations.

The thing about those shootings is that it was all over reddit and facebook. But of course those websites weren't taken down. Wasn't it even LIVEstreamed on facebook?
Anyway, I'm in a similar boat as OP. When 8chan got taken down I was surprised to see the /tech/ groups just disappear. Of all the boards to not make alternates/backups, I think it's ironic that /tech/ didn't. Lainchan is probably the best one. nanochan is good as well. There's Wired-7 if you speak Spanish. Wirechan seems good but is a bit slow.

I've also come to this conclusion. There are still nice imageboards like this one left, but they are slow and as soon as a board gets popular the alt-righters will appear and destroy it for everyone else. But it's hard to find those semi-closed communities, unless someone you already know tells you about them. Most of them probably don't even want to be too easily found, which is understandable.

I think there's also the fact that people are less likely to group together irl now. Kids in high school, college f.e. don't interact like they used to. So many online communities were born in universities, way back when.
These days, people are more likely to unite under ideas than with their fellow human. Less constructed, sane conversation, more idealogeical soykaf-flinging.
The real problem is that sturdiest communities aren't made purely of individuals, but many close-knit groups. Social media, the main method of social interaction now, promotes two kinds of interaction: mobbing with internet strangers, and connecting with people you know irl. As already stated, there is so little of the latter now- though it is a sturdier construct. The former however is very easy to get into. Formless, semi-anonymous (what with there being so many human beings and most people don't give a soykaf who you are really), and- maybe, most importantly- little investment in any one conversation.
Anyway.. I'm kinda rambling at this point but. Hope you get the picture.

I like to annoy those types by taking the most cut-and-dried word in some dumb political slogan, and pretending that it's a worthy debate topic on its own. Last week I had a co-worker on the edge of rage, just by calmly musing on the meaning of the word "make" in the MAGA slogan. I was inventing fictitious feminist-Marxist academics and their equally fictitious published works about "making" being a feminine activity that suggested a latent desire for a man using the word to transition to being a woman. Dude kept on trying to steer the conversation to politics, and I kept playing Captain Oblivious and trying to discuss word meanings. Drove him nuts.

I think most people have the wrong ideas about internet trolls, most of them do not believe in any ideology. Their main purpose is dilution, misdirection and control of an uncontrolled internet forum. They use techniques like forum sliding, consensus cracking, topic dilution, anger trolling etc therefore imageboard users should watch out for these techniques & not be on the look out for trolls pretending to be far right or far left.
https://cryptome.org/2012/07/gent-forum-spies.htm
Do not think that its just Russian bots, (disinfo agents) or Chinese CCP , (50 Cent Army) or FBI cointelpro agents, are the ones who use these tactics to control and manipulate discussions on a internet forum.Every country does this to protect the status quo and influence public opinion.

Another thing is, that, where I live, this kind of discussion simply doesn't exist (or it's too insignificant to be noticed). The only place where I get confronted with this is the internet, especially from globalized discussion boards with a lot of American (I mean the continent) influence. Interestingly, I'm also active on a German imageboard, and in the last 4-5 years I have noticed how it increased in this "SJW vs Far Right"-discussions and the "American way" to discuss politics.

Because you are so important and dangerous """they"""" have to stop you organizing and spreading the "truth" online, right.
Another explanation is that it's just simple economics. Conflict and outrage creates engagement. If you're running a media platform and make money from showing people ads then the most effective way to keep people addicted to your platform is to promote obnoxious, illogical, controversial content that gets people riled up and coming back for more.
That's basically what we're seeing. One news site runs stories about how terrible the "white supremacists" are. Another website runs stories on how terrible the "social justice warriors" are. Then the two audiences full of indignation and self righteousness meet on a discussion platform, or even in the real world now, and fight like cats and dogs.

It's also the same with data, yes ads can be loaded with scams or simply contain dangerous code but mainly our concern with info is we don't ultimately know how they will use it.
So it's not entirely impossible for governments/powerful groups to control people, just swap data/meta-data with attention in almost any argument you hear about surveillance. Do you sincerely believe in free market bullshit? Really? After 2008 crisis and bailouts of banks? Hell, even me, a LITERAL NOBODY, knows about local 3 or 4 IT companies that are blueballing the programmers by talking to each other if one of their programmers jumps ship and goes interviewing around. That way they hold down the salaries and keep the competition on the job market together holding each others back. Hell, I even read in the newspaper couple of years ago about bakeries in few towns over talking to each other about price fixing so that they have the same prices.
Free market implies that government won't jump on your neck and tell you how to do soykaf. Occam's razor says the reason you fail to convince people with your theories is because they are soykaf, not because of an evil plan to censor you.

i checked out wirech, it's just full of feisty, not-of-age 4chan zoomlets and /politically incorrect/ users
oh well, if it's easy enough to discover by asking or googling then it's suceptible to corruption by normans

There used to be plenty, even some fairly active ones. The owners either grew out of it or got tired of the sort of idiots that are attracted to these sites.
There are some niche ones with long running communities, like 1chan.net if you want to discuss pictures of railways exclusively. Most of the chans I went to are long gone now.

actually I've never been there

I'm on a long-lasting, reasonably active site but it's quiet enough that new users are rare and polfags lose interest (there's a nice amount of center+apathy, so any extremist on either side is outnumbered and laughed out of the place)
