what's better than noscript? i'd really like finer control, without enslaving my whole internet experience. i just replaced scriptsafe which i discovered to be performing shady behaviour generally i browse with js disabled entirely, temporarily allowing tabs, or sometimes the primary domains of sites to load or in the case of payments i just disable it entirely for a few i am wanting to start building comprhensive js whitelist for sites that i use regularly, pic not related.

>What's better than noscript? uMatrix, uMatrix repleaces NoScript and uBlock (generally)
Jet Black · 2020-09-10 16:32
i don't see how it would replace ublock, i am using it right now, how is it supposed to replace an ad blocker? this soykafty site doesn't let me post without an image..

>>32260 >>32263 Yes, use uMatrix/nMatrix instead as >>32261 says, although you can use uBlock Origin alongside for convenience if you can't deal with manually blocking with uMatrix and want to turn it off for the site. You would have to manually unblock some domains and content on the uMatrix extension menu as shown here.

>>32261 >>32268 Ublock does a lot of stuff umatrix doesn't. Particularly the excellent "block element" feature. I use both. Ublock for broad blocklists that I don't fuarrrk with much, as well as zapping annoying first party UI elements. Umatrix for managing scripts/frames/cookies mostly on a per site basis.

>>32261 I personally use both. Noscript is a piece of soykaf. I use it when on tor browser and it's tiresome. On a IB, you should allow a webm to run, then the page reloads, you want to play the webm and noscript tell you to unblock it again. And again, and again... What am I doing wrong...?
Nameless · 2020-09-11 02:51
>>32298 I think it's because picrel. I use the builtin Tor security button so it may conflict... This is pure madness. If I want to allow temporarily a resource in Noscript without having to change my tor browser security level I think it's not possible... It's tiresome...

>>32268 unrelated, but nice browser style anon, very retro. is this just a reskin for firefox or some other browser?
Hiro Protagonist · 2020-09-11 05:18
>>32260 is there a list of presets in a forum or something where I can calibrate my uMatrix? for websites like 4chan, youtube, etc... I had been trying to calibrate it myself but Im kind of a retard and I always end up blocking necessary things like the captchas

>>32827 uMatrix is completed, why is it "dead"? No more features are needed. So it was archived because there was nothing else to add it. Good, fuarrrk bloat

There's plenty more work to be done on uMatrix. I'd like finer filter control e.g. `regular expressions' of resource indicators instead of domans, not assuming that subdomains are still first-party; it would be nice to be able to choose multiple types of elements to block in one rule, and to have finer definitions of types of elements. This would be still the same essence of uMatrix, but with finer control. Additionally, and this really really is like kicking dead whales down the beach, is that I can't leave a rule commented out. For example, there's some fairly complex pattern to enable the `slippy map' on OpenStreetMap, which I don't remember, so each time, I'm fiddling with the filter rules to figure it out anew.. really annoying but could be solved by keeping commented-out rules, and also not changing the order of the rules.. Actually, I think for this example, it might be nice to define an alias for a set of rules, e.g. OpenStreetMap-slippymap would be the set of rules that allows the javascript from this domain and the tile photographs from that domain,, there's a similar trickiness for doing map searches unless I'm misrecalling; sometimes I might need both, so defining OpenStreetMap-search-map to be OpenStreetMap-slippymap and OpenStreetMap-search would be useful. And all this is not even mentioning the soykafspray that banks think websites have to be. Ugh!
