Can someone educate me, please? Firstly, what are librebooot and coreboot? are they the same thing? Secondly, can intel ME cleaning be done on any intel motherboard, laptop or otherwise? Thirdly, say you complete the intel me cleaning process on a board, what kind of functionality do you lose? laptops in particular. Also wondering if you lose any functionality when libre or corebooting a machine, such as the use as some hardware (wlan card, various periphials, driver support, dedicated gpu, fixes for cpu exploits/microcode updates) please educate me on all the above, thank you

I am interested in performing these processes on machines, namely my own but I would be open to doing it for people for free when I was more confident that I would not brick their machine.

>Firstly, what are librebooot and coreboot? are they the same thing? Coreboot is a project to repleace the proprietary BIOS in the motherboards. Coreboot contains non-free blobs. Libreboot is a distribution of coreboot which removes the non-free blobs, making it 100% libre. >Secondly, can intel ME cleaning be done on any intel motherboard, laptop or otherwise? Yes, but only some motherboards (the one which supports libreboot) support disabling it entirely >Also wondering if you lose any functionality when libre or corebooting a machine, such as the use as some hardware (wlan card, various periphials, driver support, dedicated gpu, fixes for cpu exploits/microcode updates) KVM stops working after you use libreboot

>>31147 >KVM stops working after you use libreboot Not so. Maybe on some machines but definitely not the KCMA-D8, for example. OP, I would ask in #libreboot about that ^, but otherwise yes you will lose some functionality depending on the machine. I'd read the documentation on the website before deciding what to go with since some lose minor functionality while others have larger drawbacks.
