SDR for newbie

Hey lainons. Can u recommend some good resource, books about radiowaves,AM,FM modulation and all this stuff. And i think without hard math
Judge Fang · 2019-07-02 09:07
If you don't want hard math (i.e. if you are not a masochist), find a course whose math is easy. If all math is hard for you, peruse Nicolas Bourbaki - Elements of Mathematics. If you refuse to get basic Mathematical training (i.e. if you are a masochist), we can't help you.

What's your end goal in learning? Do you just want an overall knowledge of SDR? Radio Frequency?

>>17954 Yes. I want do some radio hacking stuff and i think in future try find a job. First of all i want understand basic things.

radio waves are exactly the same as light waves, but at "colors" your eyes can't see. that makes it possible to use the analogy of a tall tower with a powerful light bulb that sends information by varying the light. am, or amplitude modulation woul be exactly the same as changing the brightness of the light very very quickly to send information. fm, or frequency modulation, is exactly like changing the color of the light to signal information. because radio waves are so much lower fequency than visible light waves, they penetrate solid material much better. thus a cloth umbrella will create a shadow, but it would take a metal "umbrella" to create a "shadow" from radio waves. but they're both exactly the same thing... photons. just at different frequencies/energies. i hope that helps.

try ham radio license study material
Marly Krushkhova · 2019-07-08 12:21
Would recommend you study and get your ham license. Theres three tiers of licenses and each test is around 15 bucks. If you pass the first test (technician) then you can take the next level of test for free. You can find study materials on youtube, but also the textbooks on libgen. The most important book a radio operator needs is the ARRL radio handbook. The pastebin below has a ton of links related to ham. If you want i can upload textbooks too https://pastebin.com/QVKk7uqn

>>17999 Oh thanks. If i get this license can it help me find a job?
Miho Iwakura · 2019-07-11 17:32
>>18041 Not this license, for that you'd have to go to uni and also get a commercial FCC license. However, getting this license and practicing ham will teach you a lot about radio. Ham is a cheap way to see if you're actually interested in ham, and you could definitely put it on a resume.
