I have a question. Wasn't sure if DIY. Tech. or Sec was the right lace to post. In this day and age, is it possible to have an implant similar to what pets have but able to hold "documents"? CP jokes aside im thinking of the future of data smuggling. Would an airport scnner find it? Could you spoof what it is aka its a piece of metal from an accident i had when i was young and its screwed into my bones, and in that case woul the metal arm bars/ plates shield it in a scan like that?
I am not he smartest or know as much as people here, but for the job of smuggling secrets/data/schematics, is anyone at that level?

the problem with data smuggling would have to be done using no metal, or other stuff that can be picked up by the metal detectors. so usb would be unusable, you might be able to have a micro sd hidden somewhere, most convinient way would probably be in a finger prostetic (pic related) but with micro sd

Yes. Even if you avoid metal detectors by using something like conductive polymers, the X-ray would find it.
Do you know what holds data and they will never find it in your body? DNS or RNS, and there were experiments with data holding polysaccharides and proteins. Yes, you can't just plug it into a computer when you arrive to the destination, there has to be a sequenation laboratory.

Metal detectors which i've seen didn't pick up sim or microsd cards, i bet some of them can do it, but sure not all of them

>>X-ray
They don't use x-rays

You're right, i remembered incorrectly. I just remembered they use x-ray, but now i remember you have to send your luggage and international postal packages through the x-ray scanner, but not your body.

why not just embed your data in media files on your computer/phone?

They used to use xray devices at US airports. They were called "backscatters" and were derezzed in 2013. Since then they adopted more sophisticated "millimeter machines" which use a technique similar to ultrasound to image your body. They're much more effective and not dependent on metal.

But they're only meant for under-clothing, not under the skin, so if something was inside of you, then it wouldn't be able to pick it up... at least until they start implementing more invasive searching methods.
