A rugged, milspec wrist computer.
Dolph Lundgren had one in Expendables III.
I guess you could... play Tetris while rock climbing?
Cyber AF, at any rate.

That looks fuarrrking schway lain. I've always wanted some sort of wrist wearable computer. I got close to making one with a raspberry and some hacked together soykaf but I stopped when I realized that I basically had no use for it.
Still, cool stuff.

ew, no thank you

Wow, I was expecting like soykafty old Android tablet specs with 1GB of RAM or something. But jeez, 256MB? That's barely enough to run stripped down Linux, and I can assure you, trying to be a console cowboy on that tiny display isn't going to work well.

They look awesome, if only they had better specs :(

I like the concept.
Would it be possible to strip the board and replace it with something like an R-PI3 or some other single board?

What does that thing even look like physically? 'Cause those specs are something that you would see on a quite early computer.
Jane Doe · 2019-05-18 23:16
it was ideated on 2009 when a mobile computer did'nt mean an arm processor so no surprise why are the specs so low, eitherway why would you want to wear more than half a kilo on your wrist?, apart from the sake of looking /cyb/
Otto Normalverbraucher · 2019-05-24 18:18
When did this come out?
Also does some sort of IRL Pip-boy actually exist?

to deflect incoming RPG rockets obviously
Bobby Newmark · 2019-06-22 19:44
I'd gut that thing and replace the inside with pi-ws> . God those specs are just soykaf.

Oh yeah obvs, I mean that specs sheet is from 2011 I think? Most of what you'd want it for is the case and peripheral devices in it. Would be great with some beefy alternative SBC in it.
Probably wanna ditch the LCD too, since displays from that era were utter utter dogass
Jane Doe · 2019-06-23 00:03
That would be pretty sick, I'm sure you could mod one with a raspberrypi or some other similar device. The atomicpi would be pretty cool for it, x86 based arm mounted pc

Atomic pi is not really a thing, just a half-finished piece of consumer electronics (supposedly was going to be an "AI assistant" on top of an RC car basically, soykafty adware robot) that never made it to market so it was ripped out and auctioned off as scrap--probably should go with a lattepanda or NUC if you need x86. Way more expensive, but you're gonna run into problems with atomic pi. If cost is an issue, try finding a thin client on ebay. Should be able to get one even cheaper than an atomic pi that way.
I've got a few NUCs that are great (better than most macbooks) and one lattepanda being used as a media center and meeeeeh it's alright. It works, runs surprisingly well considering the RAM. Managed to get an unfuckulated copy of windows 10 pro (totally legit I swear) on it with all the drivers, but it was a bit of a mess and the community support is... technically existent, but kind of spotty. I imagine for the atomic pi you'll see similar yet multiplied troubles.
