So i installed T-UI and am loving being able to use bash commands on mobile. Is there any way to rice a phone similar to a tiling wm on android?

You can end up with some cool stuff after about a half hour of trying soykaf in the config files and constantly restarting the terminal. The github wiki pages are a bit out of date, but its a start.

>>16570 Android has always had a tiling manager, it would be in fact a hardpain to run a stacking one on a touchscreen >>16542 >am loving being able to use bash commands on mobile. Sorry but T-UI does not even use bash, it runs your shell in /system/sh which is generally mksh, why would you want to run bash though?.

I live in a terminal on my PC, but this seems like a terrible interface for a phone with a virtual keyboard

>>16571 >Android has always had a tiling manager What? No it didn't? Split screen is the closest you can get to tiling on android right now, and it definitely wasn't always there. >it would be in fact a hardpain to run a stacking one on a touchscreen How come? As someone who also used t-ui for about half a month or so, it is very impractical to rely on virtual keyboard to do all your stuff, especially if you're in a rush.

>>16574 nice rice gonna try out t-ui soon

>>16574 wait, how far in t-ui do you have to get for that

>>16576 >>16578 Lmao what? This isn't t-ui and the only thing riced there is termux. It's stock Samsung's flavor of android 9.

>>16574 I think I've been using t-ui for almost a year now, and I found that it's really rather efficient to type the first couple of letters of an app and then click the suggestion you want. I've got a few default suggestions for things I use frequently like the phone and the authenticator, which saves even more time without being an ugly icon. The only downside I've encountered is that sometimes you forget what apps you have installed, but honestly that's saved me from using my phone to idly waste time so I prefer it.

>>16574 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiling_window_manager >In computing, a tiling window manager is a window manager with an organization of the screen into mutually non-overlapping frames, as opposed to the more popular approach of coordinate-based stacking of overlapping objects (windows) also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stacking_window_manager >Other window managers that are not considered stacking window managers are those that do not allow the overlapping of windows, which are called tiling window managers. so therefore the android wm could be defined as a tiling one, however is moving since the introduction of PiP and floating windows so is now a dynamic one, however I did not know that on android 9 you could actually have a stacking one, do admit that it does not look confortable (unless your tel is fuarrrking huge) and also you are not even using more than one window and the one you are using has a ginormous font size. Also you have low res wallpaper on your huge resolution, at least do waifu2x dude

>>16592 >do admit that it does not look confortable It is pretty comfortable, but I rarely use it with more than 1 window. My screen isn't HUEG, it's s8, but I also don't have sausages for fingers. >ginormous font size It only looks that way because the window is small. If you think that's big font size, you clearly haven't seen what most other people use. >Also you have low res wallpaper on your huge resolution That's partly due to the style of the drawing, and I like it this way, it contrasts really well with the icons. Waifu2x makes everything look like smoothed-out blurry garbage.
