So how long do you think until stuff like this is available? This soykaf is crazy, imagine the possibilities: https://youtu.be/RielTrKWEnY You could imitate any voice actor - train it on hours of Solid Snake lines, and you'd have your own personal David Hayter, for example. Would using that generated voice for commercial purposes be even legal, though?

The intonations make it clear that it's synthesized, but once it sounds completely realistic I can imagine it potentially putting voice actors out of work. So either they'll sue or they'll set up some kind of licensing deal with the developers of the software. My worry is people using it to impersonate others. I'm afraid we'll have people pushing around synthesized clips of someone unpopular saying something damning, and people just taking it as fact because trying to prove it as fake makes it seem like you're defending them. Or conversely, you might have a popular person who actually does say something damning, and when they realize they messed up they can just claim someone used a speech synthesizer. And people believe them because they're influential and so everything they say is 100% true.

Look at google showcased one done with tensorflow that is really good. Good enough people can't tell it's not a real person. They avoided showcasing copying famous people but i believe what's shown is convincing by itself
