Hello lainons, soo I am kind of a linux noob and on windows I have some driver that came with my headset,it made me able to enable surround sound and such settings, but it has no linux drivers I think,I found something but I was not able to do anything with it. I tried getting surround sound to work before,by trying to edit config files but that didn't do anything, soo I am asking you guys, how do you do it?

Hello. First off I'd like you to know that while nowadays most hardware work out of the box on most Linux distros, some just don't. So when you are buying a product that isn't widely used, do some research about compatibility. I, for example, when decided to hope in the 7.1 van, bought a known to be compatible audio interface and an analog 7.1 headset. It just works. Also, while it is just a kernel, when we say "Linux" we mean a broad variety of distros with an even wider variety of software combinations, including multiple sounds systems. So when you are asking for help, at least mention what distro you are using just so we try to help you following the defaults for it. Now about your problem: Based on this Brazilian dude video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5DCnhb7_rk), I can say that the Sades 7.1 (I got the name from your pic, because you didn't even give us this crucial info) it just works out of the box on Linux. But your headset has in fact virtual surround sound, and not the actual thing. Meaning that without the emulation from software (on WIndows done by the driver) you can't have surround sound on Linux. Have you tried Spotify on your Linux installation? The dude on the video said you can get 5.1 to work on Linux with it (7.1 isn't supported by Spotify AFAIK) I hope I helped ya.

>>15573 >>15567 I am sorry for not providing enough information! The headphones that I am using are these:http://genesis-zone.com/en/product/radon-600-gaming-headset/. I am using Linux Mint right now,I am using it alongside windows 10 but I thought I might go full Linux, the sound issue is probably the only big reason to not do that yet. I got this headset before I started Linux,I did try Spotify, but I have not tried fixing the issue with it.Are there any good sound emulation tools on Mint that could help with this?

>>15573 >But your headset has in fact virtual surround sound, and not the actual thing. How can you possibly have "the actual thing" in headphones? Do your headphones have more than two speakers?

>>15607 The website itself says it is plug and play on Linux, so you'll need to tweak your sound system (pulseaudio, in your case) to make it work. Pulseaudio has the ability to downmix audio and therefore virtualise a 4 and 5 (and maybe 7, idk for sure) channels device. I unfortunately don't run Linux Mint and I don't have your headset to test out and give you a proper answer, but you should look up for "pulseaudio virtual surround" on your favorite search engine. Just remember to backup any file before making any changes, or even setup a virtual machine and forward your headset to test your configs without screwing with your actual system. While some movies released in blu-ray have 5.1 channels audio, 7.1 channels content is very rare to find. You can find some test samples on the internet (Youtube doesn't support surround sound), but they are just a handful really. Not even games support 7.1. >>15610 Yes, they are the Razer Tiamat 7.1, and actually have 5 speakers on each side. I was just looking for more immersion, and while those headphones made me more immerse than my previous ones, they are really expensive and the immersion wasn't really as near I was expecting it to be. So I wouldn't recommend buying those. Here is a video coincidentally released a few days after this thread was opened: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_JpAyWMeiQ The results look really random, but might interest you.
