Pris · 2018-10-02 03:53
>>13510 Hey you didn't answer on arisu chan, what would you even do with a Lain OS? What would it be for?
Cat Mother · 2018-10-02 04:04
Why do you post this on a board called *programming"? Stupid fuarrrk.
Dot Dot Dot · 2018-10-02 04:06
>>13515 I hope fuarrrk is a typo, because it isn't english- and it sounds fuarrrking nerdy
Spooky · 2018-10-02 04:17
>>13516 it's a word filter gnu-friend.
Zuse · 2018-10-02 15:08
>>13516 it's funny when you don't realise it's a word filter and you end up using the same word in your post :D >>13510 honestly i had no idea there was any project like that, but... what would be the point?
Appleman1234 · 2018-10-02 22:57
>>13510 The original LainOS project has been dead for several years now, and the rewrite project that I worked on has also been on hiatus, due to lack of progress and lack of interest as far as I know.
John Rain · 2018-10-03 11:20
>>13519 Did LainOS have any distinguishing features, or was it another themed GNU-linux distro?
Joey · 2018-10-03 12:14
>>13520 I might be wrong here, but I think the original was supposed to be based on a BSD.
fsociety · 2018-10-08 04:22
>>13510 lainOS? What?
Eldon Tyrell · 2018-10-08 04:42
>>13510 Lets be honest, LainOS is a lot of effort for little return. If you want the super Lisp hacker girl experience, you can just install StumpWM.
Junichi Fujiwara · 2018-10-08 11:34
>>13623 completely agree
TRS-80 · 2018-10-09 05:36
In light of the recent SJW infiltration of the Linux community, I was fantasizing about making a Unix/Linux? based distribution/operating system known as LAIN-X, it would be an operating system that has a CoplandOS-esque GUI comparable to Manjaro Linux. Teslas neuralink also made led me think that human/machine interfacing should also be implemented for a complete cyberpunk experience. >But alas, still a fantasy...
Hitomi · 2018-10-09 12:50
>>13623 why not guixsd
Drano · 2018-10-09 12:54
>>13639 >In light of the recent SJW infiltration of the Linux community, What in the fuarrrk are you talking about
Guthrie · 2018-10-09 13:34
>>13642 I'm pretty sure Lainon is talking about the recent drama around the CoC adoption by the kernel developers.
Peepee haha xd lole · 2018-10-09 15:08
>>13623 Name of that laptop in the bottom right?
Ishikura "Tatsu" Tatsuhiko · 2018-10-09 16:27

Splicer · 2018-12-14 19:55
>>13639 You realize it's the actually linux kernel that's under attack from identity politics at the moment. How does creating a new distro make any difference? You're still using the same kernel.
Spike Spiegel · 2019-03-01 17:27
>>14210 Last time we nuked japan they built Tokyo tower and one of the best rail systems in the world Wonder what they might build if we did it again? >>13639 Is there any real reason to even use Linux anymore? Unless you're wanting to use harmful/suck software OpenBSD has everything you could ever need. If it wasn't for the lack of a port/replacement of ffmpeg I'd be running 9front right now. Alas I still want to watch anime so I've settled on OpenBSD.
Aristóteles Amadópulus · 2019-03-04 14:15
What was the plan of LainOS in regards to open source voice recognition software? Did they get to that stage even?
Hououin Kyouma · 2019-03-05 23:43
>>13623 I use Awesome WM with Mobar, I think it's called. You can just throw whatever you want in the bar and you are good to go, I have a setup just like pic related.
Void · 2019-04-17 03:00
>>14511 Am I reading this wrong or were the most recent updates in 2005?
William Holtzer · 2019-04-17 03:02
>>16007 It probably had plans for voice recognition, but I doubt they even got remotely close to that.
